Cameron Knowles enters his second season as head coach of T2, after guiding the club
to a regular-season record of 17-13-4 (55pts) on the way to qualifying for the club’s first
postseason appearance in 2018. Knowles was named T2 head coach on Jan. 8, 2018,
after spending six seasons as an assistant coach for the Portland Timbers. Knowles was
part of the Timbers coaching staff that won MLS Cup in 2015. Drafted by Real Salt Lake
in the 2005 MLS Supplemental Draft, Knowles played professionally for seven seasons,
including two seasons in MLS and four with the USL Timbers from 2007-10. During his
playing career with the Timbers, Knowles was a three-time USL First Division all-league
selection and helped Portland claim the Commissioner’s Cup in 2009 as the league’s
regular-season champion. He was a finalist for the league’s Defender of the Year award
in 2007. In total, Knowles played in 77 games for the Timbers, which ranks among the
club’s second-division career leaders.

“They are all different. The sentiment is different. I wouldn’t
say that some stadiums are better than others because they
all have their own thing going on. I can definitely say that our
fans at Providence Park truly make an impact in our game. We
always focus on the game and what’s happening inside the
pitch, but when the ball stops because a player is being looked
at during a break or anything along those lines, you can’t help
watch the crowd, stay quiet and simply enjoy their energy and
passion. It truly helps me as a player to perform better and to
feel motivated to offer a great show. After traveling extensively
during the first leg of the season, each and every time I come
back to Providence Park I feel the reassurance that it is a privi-
lege to play in front of our fans.”
