Titles:- Types of Sensors Used in Industrial Automation.

Sensors are a way to identify the progress of an electrical or physical quantity or another and provide
yields that track the progress of the quantity. In summary, industrial automation sensors are input
devices that provide an output (signal) for a specific physical quantity (input).

Sensors used for automation:

In industrial automation, sensors play an important role in the manufacture of intelligent and
exceptionally automatic products. This allows the detection, analysis, measurement and processing of
various deformations, such as changes in position, length, height, external and potential, which occur at
industrial manufacturing sites.

The sensor also plays a fundamental role in the prediction and prevention of numerous potential
developments, meeting the needs of many detection applications.

The following are the various types of sensors used in automation:

 Temperature Sensors
 Pressure sensors
 MEMS Sensors
 Torque Sensors

1. Temperature sensor:

A temperature sensor is a device that collects information about the temperature of a resource and
changes it to a way that other devices can understand. These are categories of commonly used sensors
that detect temperature or heat and measure the temperature of the medium.

Digital temperature sensors and humidity and temperature sensors are some of the main temperature
sensors used in automation.

Digital Temperature Sensors:- This digital temperature sensor is a silicon-based temperature sensing IC
that provides accurate output through a digital representation of the temperature being measured. This
simplifies the design of the control system compared to the approach associated with external signal
conditioning and analog to digital converters (ADC).

Humidity & Temperature Sensors:- Temperature and humidity sensors are complex temperature and
humidity sensors with measured digital signal outputs. This technology and temperature and the
moisture detection technology of limited digital signal acquisition guarantee high consistency and
excellent long-term stability.

Applications of Temperature Sensors:-

 Weatherproof and designed for continuous temperature measurements in the air, soil or water.
 Exceptional precision and stability
 Measurement in complex industrial applications
 Measure in severe operating conditions

2. Pressure Sensors:-

A pressure sensor is a device that understands the pressure and changes its amount in an electrical
signal depending on the pressure to which it is applied.

The rotating parts for pressure sensors and vacuum sensors are some of the main pressure sensors used
in industrial automation.

Turned parts for Pressure Sensors:- This pressure sensor is a high pressure industrial automation sensor
that is widely used in industrial and hydraulic systems and also in climate control systems.

Vacuum Sensors:- Vacuum sensors are used when the vacuum pressure is below atmospheric pressure
and can be difficult to detect by mechanical methods. This sensor is usually based on a hot wire with
electrical resistance that is related to temperature. As the vacuum pressure increases, the convection
drops and the temperature of the cable increase. The electrical resistance increases proportionally and
is calibrated adjacent to the pressure to effectively measure the vacuum.

Applications of Pressure Sensors:-

 It is used to measure the pressure below the atmospheric pressure in a given position
 Use it for meteorological instrumentation, aircraft, vehicles and all other machines with
pressure function
 In the system, pressure sensors can be used to measure other variables, such as fluid / gas flow,
speed, water level and altitude.

3.MEMS Sensors (Micro-electro-mechanical Systems) :-

This MEMS industrial automation sensor converts the measured mechanical signals into electrical
signals.

MEMS acceleration and movement are some of the important sensors used in industrial automation.
Acceleration sensors :- MEMS acceleration sensors (micro-electromechanical systems) are one of the
main inertia sensors. Dynamic sensors with a wider range of detection capabilities.

Motion Sensors:- Micro-electro-mechanical-system (MEMS) motion sensors integrate low-cost MEMS

motion sensor data with wireless technology, using data processing algorithms designed on motion
interaction platforms that work with machines to perform personalized interactions. Sensor signal
processing systems primarily resolve noise rejection. Signal smoothing, severity influence division,
coordinate system change and position information retrieval. Widely used in the automotive industry
with ABS technology.

Applications of MEMS Sensors:-

 There are many applications here, from industry, entertainment and sports to education. For
example, trigger airbag deployment or reactor monitoring
 It is used to measure static acceleration (gravity), the inclination of the object, the dynamic
acceleration of the aircraft, the impact on the object of the car, the vibration of the object.
Mobile phone, washing machine or computer
 It is used to detect movement

4.Torque sensors:-

 The torque sensor has the necessary mechanical stop function, increases the overload capacity
and provides additional protection during installation and operation.
 The rotating torque and torque transducers are some important sensors used in industrial
automation.

Rotating Torque Sensors:-

This industrial rotary torque automation sensor is used to measure the response of the rotating torque.
Equipped with the necessary mechanical stops, this torque meter increases excess capacity and provides
additional safety during assembly and operation.

Torque Transducers:-

This torque transducer uses superior strain gauge technology to meet the most demanding needs in
static and dynamic sensor applications.

Applications of Torque Sensors:-

 It is used to measure the speed of rotation and maintenance needs.

 It is used to measure mass and moments of mass inertia
 The amount of torque to calculate in terms of a semi-static process
 Maximum rotation speed, used for vibration torque measurement
