The strength of a developed nation depends primarily on the literacy of the Nation. With this vision as a
beacon “Kalvi Chemmal” Late Shri.T.K.Pattabhiraman set out the mission to provide quality education
and the fruit of the endeavor was the founding of the Coimbatore Educational and Cultural Foundation
Trust. Under this trust Sankara College of Science and Commerce was established in the year 1991. In
Pursuit of knowledge is the prophetic motto of the college.
Sankara Educational Institutions are ceaseless in their pursuit of excellence, to provide quality education
to all the poor in quest of knowledge.The student community and the society today have recognized the
inspired effort that Sankara is now one among the most sought after temples of learning. The college
has a long academic tradition in scholarship. This is coupled with facilities for the pursuit of knowledge
so that it caters to the needs of rural students who aspire for education in arts, science and commerce
courses.
The Sankara Management is headed by Shri.T.P.Ramachandran, Managing Trustee & Secretary, an
able leader and self motivated personality. We believe in not just teaching but to guide the students for
overall development. May the quality education, we impart to our students enlighten their minds and
enthuse their hearts towards high aspiration.

Greetings from Sankara College of Science and Commerce!!!

Welcome to the academic year 2019-20. Here is the SANSAC Bulletin, the monthly
newsletter of Sankara College of Science and Commerce.The faculty members
and the student contributors have expressed great zeal in contributing towards this
newsletter through their participation in varied activities.
Our sincere thanks to the team, whose hard work and enthusiasm has made it
possible to record and cherish all the dynamic efforts, activities and laurels of our
students and faculty in large. We are happy to release the Volume-1 Issue-3

The Youth Red Cross Club was inaugurated on 02.08.19 for the academic year 2019-2020 by the chief guest
Dr.Abdul Salam, Chief Ortho of One Care Hospital, Coimbatore. In his address he highlighted the value of first aid and
methods to be followed to aid the needy.

Plastic Cleaning Camp at

Maruthamalai - NSS
Ver Organization and Aayalam Foundation jointly organized an awareness camp on “Plastic Free Maruthamalai” on
04.08.2019 at Maruthamalai, Coimbatore. The organization invited the people from all societal aspects to serve the society.
More than 80 NSS and Eco club volunteers of Sankara College of Science and Commerce enthusiastically participated
and cleaned the plastic waste from Maruthamalai. Dr.A.Senthil Kumar, and Mrs. V.Tamilselvi, NSS Co-ordinators and
Dr.Satheesh Mohan, Eco Club Co-ordinator organized the camp.

Blood Donation Camp

YRC, NSS, RRC

Red Ribbon Club (RRC), NSS and YRC of Sankara College of Science and Commerce in association with Shanthi Social
Service (SSS), Coimbatore organized a blood donation on 7th August 2019 in the College premises. The objective of the
camp was to propagate the significance of blood donation in saving lives, and to generate awareness to prevent the needy.
The resource pool of students and faculty members offer a strong count for blood donation. Nearly 100 students donated
their blood. The donors were scrutinized before the blood donation to ensure that the blood was collected from healthy
donors.

The Department of Business Administration with CA has conducted One Day Workshop on “ Career Exploration and
Enrichment” on 08.07.19 by the chief guest Dr.S.Dhayanithi, Business Instructor, Shinas Vocational College, Sultanate of
Oman and Dr.A.K.Senthil Kumar, The Prodigy HossPTEK, Coimbatore.

The Department of Computer Science and Applications of Sankara College of Science and Commerce organized a one
day National Seminar on Artificial Intelligence and Robotics on 9 th August 2019. The Seminar was inaugurated by the
Distinguished Chief Guests Dr.S.Krishnakumar, Senior Technical Officer, DRDO, Chennai and Dr.M.Nandhini, Associate
Professor,Dept of Computer Science, Pondicherry University, Pondicherry. More than 100 Participants are participated in
this seminar from various Arts and Science and Engineering Institutions.

FDP on Research Projects & Funding

Research Cell
Sankara Research Cell organized a faculty development programme on Research Projects and Funding to the faculty
members. Dr.S.Krishnakumar, Senior Technical Officer, DRDO, Chennai addressed the members about the funding in
DRDO and other agencies on 9th Aug 2019.

Women Empowerment Cell, Sankara College of Science and Commerce, Coimbatore in association with Hindustan Unile-
ver Limited organized a workshop on “Rexona Confidence Academy” on 13.08.2019 (Tuesday) at 10.30 am in our campus.
The aim of this program is to teach the importance of Grooming and Confidence to crack their interviews and face the
challenges of the corporate world.

73rd Independence Day

Celebration
Saluting the nation on the eve of 73 rd Independence Day, Sankara Educational Institutions marked an occasion on 15 th
August 2019 at 8.45am in the college campus.
The Cultural programme began by reciting of poetic songs, elocution and poem.
Further, it was flourished by various traditional dance forms and mime.

The Student club & YUVA has conducted an Awareness Programme on GIFT AN ORGAN on 20.08.19 by the chief guest
Dr. C. Madeswaran consultant surgical gastroenterologist & Laparoscopic Surgeon GKNM Hospital. The chief guest
addressed the gathering and he highlighted the latest technologies which are implied in Medical science and brain dead
person can save eight members life while they are contributing organs. Hence he insisted the statics value of people
losing their life without organs are vast in number the bridge has to be fill.

Workshop on Financial Planning using

MS Excel - Dept. of Commerce
The Department of Commerce has conducted one day hands on training workshop on “Financial Planning using Microsoft
Excel” on 20.08.19 by the chief guest Mr.V.S.Binu, Independent Financial Advisor, AMFI Reg No 117484, Financial
Planning Consultant, ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund, Cochin. The guest addressed the gathering and he highlighted that the
career options are vast and varied in the field of Commerce. He also emphasized that the Microsoft excel stimulate to
know EMI facts, inflation, Investment scheme and present and future value of money. He also highlighted the usage of
excel and effectiveness in the field of Commerce.

Seminar on Financial Services in

Indian Postal Sectors - Dept. of B.Com PA
The Association of Commerce PA (COMMPACT) has conducted a seminar on “Financial Services in Indian Postal Sector”
on 26.08.19 by the chief guest Dr.Sudhir Gopal Jakhere, IPoS Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Coimbatore Division.
The chief guest addressed the gathering and he highlighted that the career options are vast and varied in the field of
Commerce. He emphasized about the financial and banking services rendered by the department of posts and several
investment and insurance plans and students should cultivate the savings habit in their life. He also highlighted that the
students should register their names in career development at less cost which is connected to employment offices through
online. He pictured the different post office savings scheme.

FIT INDIA MOVEMENT

at our Campus
Sankara College of Science and Commerce joining hands with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Fit India
Movement-2019”. The launch of Fit India Movement was screened live for all the students and staff members. The
students formed Fit India human chain by supporting this movement. The staff and students of Sankara College throbbing
with enthusiasm attempted to walk 10,000 steps as a part of Fit India Movement. The college has planned various fitness
activities to trigger the vigour in the students mind.

Inter Dept. Mehandi Contest

Fine Arts Club
Sankara College of Science and Commerce, Fine Arts Club has conducted the Mehandi competition for the students on
30th August 2019. This will encourage them to explore their Art and Drawing skills. The creativity of drawing and making
art in the hand is a different skill and students have actively participated and prozes were given to the winners.

Media on 30th Aug 2019. Mr.Balakrishnan and Mr.Santhosh, Trainers from Accent Technosoft addressed the students
about various digital marketing strategies and handled a detailed session on hoe social media will be a tool for successful
digital marketing.

Sankara College of Science and Commerce signed MoU with SA IAS Academy on 30th Aug 2019 for training students and
make them to prepare for Govt Competitive Exams. Dr.H.Balakrishnan, Principal, Sankara College and Mr.Venkatesh,

Hotel Industry by the Expert Manager at Le Meridian

District Employement office

Special Training to Students
Sankara College of Science and Commerce, Students from special category (Speech and Hearing Impaired) attended
four weeks free training programme from District Employement Office, Coimbatore. Students were trained for upcoming
Govt. Examinations. They were given tips and shortcut methods to crack the exams.

Quality Publications - Research Cell
Sankara College of Science and Commerce, Research Cell organized one day workshop on Professional Ethics &
Plagiarism and Strengthening Research for Quality Publications on 31st Aug 2019. Dr.K.Ezhavalagan, Chief Knowledge
officer & Librarian, IIM, Trichy and Dr.N.Radhakrishnan, Professor, Dept. of Library and Information Science, Periyar
University, Salem addressd the participants on how to strengthen the research for quality publications. Also they insisted
the participants to use latest plagiarism tools to check the plagiarism. Around 200 paticipants participated in the workshop
from various colleges in and around coimbatore.

Tech Events for School Students

Dept. of CSA
Sankara College of Science and Commerce, Department of Computer Science and Applications organized tech Events to
School students on 31st Aug 2019. Events like Debugging, Brain Teaser, Treasure Hunt, Online Quiz, Rock Star, YOGA
etc are conducted for the students. All the students were given participation certificates and winners are appreciated and
awards are given. Nearly 100 students from schools participated in the tech event.

SANSAC Students Participated in Inter College Cultural Event held at SNGC College on 28.8.2019 and
won prizes and awards. SANSAC Group Dance Team Won 2nd Place and Evanchilin Mercy of III B.Com
PA won 2nd Place in Pencil Sketching event. Also Principal appreciated Ms.Krithiga of III BA English for
her laurel(4th Place) in Handloom Fashion Show

Monisha.R of III Year B.Com CA participated in Thirukkural Competition organized by

Sabarman Higher Secondary School organized by Chennai Sriram Ilakkiya Kazhagam
and won prizes on 17th Aug 2019.

Students of I BBA CA and I B.Com CA participated in Group Dance Event and won 2nd
place held at Aditya College on 17th Aug 2019, Coimbatore.

Parvathy Krishnan - III MCA (Special Student) for successfully placed in UST GLOBAL
MNC as an Associate Software Developer through NISH (National Inst of Speech and
Hearing Impaired) and Training and Placement Cell, Sankara College of Science and
Commerce.
