SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN

IN MATHEMATICS 7

Date: July 8, 2019

Learning Competency

Factor completely different types of polynomials (polynomials with common monomial factor, difference of
two squares, sum and difference of two cubes, perfect square trinomials, and general trinomials).(M8AL-Ia-b-1)
Solve problems involving factors of polynomials. (M8AL- Ib-2)

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
a. differentiate polynomials from a non-polynomials ;
b. illustrate the degrees of polynomials, and
c. recognize the use of writing polynomials in to standard form.

II. Subject Matter

Topic: Polynomials
Reference/s: Orlando A. Oronce, Marilyn O. Mendoza, ; E- Math, ; pp. 2-44
Instructional Materials: board, chalk, visual aids and pen and papers.

III. Procedure
A. Routine Activities
 PERG- prayer, energizer, recall and gained insight. (to be led by assigned group )
 Checking of attendance.
 Review the past lesson.

B. Lesson Proper
 Review the nature of a polynomial to a non-polynomial using a flash card. How to find the
degrees, and standard form of a polynomial. The students will use pen and paper. I will write
some equation in the board, they will be asked to identify if the equation express polynomial
or non-polynomial.
 What are my degrees – Let the students illustrate the degrees of a polynomials.
 Write my way - Ask the students to write a polynomial into ascending and descending order
or in a standard form.

C. Application
 They will have a short activity about the classification of polynomial, finding the degrees of
polynomial and writing it on a standard form.

D. Generalization
 Summary – Let the students list some key note notes about the lesson and ask them to share it
with the class. Let the students generalized the topic discussed.
IV. Evaluation

DIRECTION: Tell whether if the following equation is a polynomial or not. If yes find its degrees
and write it on a standard form.

1. 2𝑥 2 − 3𝑥 + 4𝑥1/2
2. (4𝑡 + 7)4 + (2𝑡)
3. (𝑎 + 𝑏 + 𝑐)2 − (𝑎 + 𝑏)
4. (3𝑥 + 𝑦) + (4𝑥 − 𝑦)
5. (10𝑦 + 5) − 2𝑥 −6
V. Assignment
 Ask the students to be ready for a recitation and find the laws of exponents.
