INTRODUCTION
The young generation across the globe are saturated with
media. They are entertained by the access they have to
television, social media, games, movies, music and mobile
phones.
SUMMARY
There are three main types of media .television, radio and
newspaper which are easily accessible to the masses. On
such forms of media, false news and false advertising is
presented in form that anybody can hear it. False advertising
are presented in such way through the media that the youth
are directly connected to it and tend to get slowly affected to
it.
The greatest addiction for the youth in today’s world is
media. Mass media connects people around the globe and
developing of media in fast pace creates curiosity in the
minds of the youth.
How does media hold direct influence on youth?
In today’s generation media are available to the masses and
anybody from any age group can access it. Media holds a
great impact in the youth’s mind and their lives.
No show or no news are censored in media, shows or news
that consist of violence and smoking and alcohol are viewed

by everyone even by the younger age. Even social media has

been a great addiction.

 Violence

Shows that consist violence has increased in the recent

times. Television shows which include extortion,
murder and so on are telecasted in media without any
statutory warning and these shows leaves an impact to
the kids and they start began to think it’s alright to hurt
somebody or something.

 Smoking and alcohol

Ad commercials on alcohol products affect the mind of
the youth. Basically media is not the only way young
kids know about alcohol, the main point is that these
shows don’t show after effects and consequences it can
produce. Five out of ten animated movies show use of
beer and tobacco.
 Social media
Cyberbullying, is very common nowadays in between
youth one of the most popular way is sending threating
messages. While as sharing of the personal information
such as photos, contacts and places visited are not
always safe as hacking accounts and posting fake and

inappropriate and leaking of personal information on

dark web is a trend nowadays.

In an interview I conducted with a person asking his

thoughts on how mass media affects himself and his
kids he had shared his perspective on it. It was
something like this:
Q:”What are your views on the youth getting addicted
to mass media?”
A: “I think the kids of this generation are addicted to
social media than televisions and other forms, I would
quote 30% on TV’s and 70% on social media because in
phones nowadays everything just needs a touch and
kids these days need everything happening fast which
was impossible in my generations.”

Q: “What kind of media do your kids use?”

A: “My kids use both mobiles and Tvs. but they prefer
mobile more because it’s portable.”

Q: “Do you check what your kids watch and what they
browse online?”
A: “yes I do on regular basis, they watch cartoons and
stuff online as well as on TV”

Q: “Do you think when u sit with kids and watch

violent content on TV it affects them?”
A: “yeah I do. It had affected my children once my
son ended up climbing onto windows and jumping on
to bed from there and ended up getting hurt”.
Q: “what do you think on shows telecasted targeting
the youth?”
A: “according to me the media has changed a lot from
my time when I was young I used to have shows with
less actions and violence but now there more violence
and kids enjoy it and try to be like that character in real
life. ”
Q: “how much time do your kids spend time outside
playing and on the media”
A: “uh. They spend most of their time playing on
phones and watching TV but when I am around them I
take them to different places each day, so that they
don’t isolate themselves from society”

CONCLUSION
Media is a necessity nowadays, any form of media used in
right manner will always help to grow the society in good
way but misusing the media and letting our self to media
will just lead us to real trouble and isolate our self from the
society.
