The Effectiveness of the Lorsbach Model in


Acquiring and Preserving Islamic Concepts
among Fourth-Grade Students in the Holy
Quran and Islamic Education subject

The current research aims at knowing :


(The Effectiveness of the Lorsbach Model in Acquiring and
Preserving Islamic Concepts among Fourth-Grade Students in the
Holy Quran and Islamic Education subject)
To achieve the objectives of the research, the researcher put the
following hypotheses:

1- There are no statistically differences between the average score of


the students of the experimental group who will study the Quran
and Islamic education in (Lorsbach) model, and between the average
score of students control group who will study the same substance
(traditional way) in the post test of the acquisition of Islamic
concepts.
2- There are no statistically significant differences between the
average score of the students of the experimental group who will
study the Quran and Islamic education in (Lorsbach) model, and
the average score of students of the control group who will study
the same substance (traditional way) in the second application to L
test the acquisition of concepts (retention).
3- There are no statistically differences for the experimental group
between the first application and the second application in concepts
acquisition test (retention).The researcher followed the
experimental approach in knowing the effectiveness of the
Lorsbach model in the acquisition of Islamic concepts and retention
in the fourth grade students.
The current research was limited to students of the fourth grade
scientific in secondary schools and daytime preparatory for girls in
the six directorates of education of the Directorate General of
Baghdad governorate education for the academic year (2018-2019).
The researcher adopted an experimental design with partial control
of two groups (experimental and control) in the past and post-test. M

The experimental sample was composed of (68) fourth grade


students (scientific) who were randomly selected from (Al-Fardous
Girls Secondary School) by (34) female students to the
experimental group and (34) students of the control group, the
researcher rewarded between the two groups in a number of
variables (intelligence - previous information - degrees of the
previous year - the age of time calculated months - the father’s
collection - the mother's collection) and the experimental group
studied in (Lorsbach) model while the control group studied in the
(traditional way), And to perform the search experiment the
researcher prepared a study plans of (30) plan, (15) for the
experimental group and (15) for the control group. The researcher
studied the two groups during the duration of the 14-week
experiment. And in order to measure the two dependent variables,
The researcher made the (Islamic concepts acquisition test), the test
consist from (60) part, the researcher assured of the honesty and
consistence of the test and the statistical analysis of its paragraphs
(difficulty - discrimination - effectiveness of alternatives -
stability). After the researcher completed the application of her
experiment, the application applied to the two research groups
(experimental and control), And after collecting the results the
researcher used the following statistical methods to analyze the
results (T-test of two independent examples- Cai squares-
coefficient of difficulty coefficient of excellence-effectiveness of
false substitutes-stability coefficient-Pearson correlation
coefficient-Spearman correlation coefficient -T test of two
interrelated samples).

The researcher reached the following results:

1 - There is a difference of statistical significance between the


average score of the experimental group and the average score of
the control group in the post-application of acquisition of Islamic
concepts test and for the experimental group.
2 - There is a difference of statistical significance between the
average score of the experimental group and the average score of
the control group in the second application (retention) of
acquisition of Islamic concepts test, and for the benefit of the
experimental group.
3 - There is a difference of statistical significance between the
average score of the experimental group in the first application of
acquisition of Islamic concepts test and the second application
(retention) and in for the benefit of the first application of
acquisition of Islamic concepts test.

The researcher concluded some conclusions, including:


1- The Lorsbach model makes fourth-grade students more willing
and eager to learn Islamic concepts and acquire them from the
traditional way.
2- The use of Lorsbach model in teaching increases the interaction
between students, and allow them to express opinions and ideas,
which leads to meaningful learning, raising the level of science
and even become more serious in the application of what they
learned.

The researcher recommended some recommendations, including:

1- Inform and learn the teachers of the Quran and Islamic education
in the strategies and modern methods and models of teaching
and adopt it in the teaching of this subject, especially the
Lorsbach model.
2- Lead the students towards understanding, research and inquiry
and away from the indoctrination and deaf memorize.

The researcher suggested some suggestions, including:

1- Execute a similar study in other study stages.


• (Effectiveness of the Lorsbach model in acquiring and
Preserving Islamic Concepts among first / second intermediate
or fifth grade students in the Holy Quran and Islamic Education).
2- Execute a similar study in other subjects.
• (Effectiveness of the Lorsbach model in the acquisition of
grammatical concepts and their retention in fourth grade students
in the Arabic language).
