DANGERS ON THE INTERNET-
What is the best way to get rid of JUNK MAILS?
Email Spoofing •-It is a deceitful email practice in which the sender address is changed, so that it would appear to
have come from a different source which is usually someone you know. • Email spoofing is usually used by

control over the computer without the knowledge of the user.
-It can monitor and collect information about the user’s internet habits and practices. • It can also affect the
performance and setting of the computer.
Computer Worm -It is a dangerous computer program that replicates itself through a network.
- Some worms delete files, others disrupt the network function.
- It is usually spread through email and running of attachments from suspicious sources.
-It spreads by exploiting weaknesses in operating systems (but BLESS OS updates!)
Trojan Horse - A malware fronting to perform a good task, but covertly performs undesirable function with the
intention of entering the computer without the user’s consent.
- It can disable the computer’s defenses, opening it to unauthorized entry. It can erase data, can corrupt files, allow
access to computer.
Computer Virus - It is a program that duplicates itself and then infects the computer. It spreads like a biological
virus.
-It can be transferred by the use of removable storage media devices.
- Damages may be mild to severe.
Hacker -This is a person who is able to enter and control other people’s computer without authorization.
-Usually vandalizes the victims’ website, steals personal information, obtains intellectual property, and performs
credit card fraud.
-Firewalls are able to prevent entry by hackers.

ONLINE RESEARCH
Contextualized Online Search and Research Skills- The extensive use of the internet in today’s young students also
matches the increasing popularity of the mobile phones in the search for thier school assignments.
Steps to make contextualized online search
1. Identify or choose a topic- if the topic is not provided and you are free to choose the content, choose something
you are interested in, new ideas, things., topic provided, make an initial search of the subject usually with the
help of Google and Wikipedia.
2. Topic or Task definition- also with the help o the Internet , use the Google search or Wikipedia or other sources
to be able to define the topic or task.
3. Identify methods of search- you can either perform experiments, explore or get a survey of the subject matter
and textual content of the search
4. Identify resources of your research- reliable sources are very important obtain to rich accurate information for
your research.
5. Make your research strategies- first list down all the keywords or specific topics to seach on the internet.
6. Compiling the research results- the Internet has enormous wealth of information that can be overwhelming.
7. Evaluate the results of your research- go through the materials you have researched and check them for
usefulness, relevance to your research, reliability and accuracy.

8. Create a list of your references for citation- it is good practice to keep your sorces updated for your footness
and bibliography; this will be save time going back to the net later for these.
ENHANCING AND IMPROVING RESEARCH SKILLS- Practice makes perfect is also applicable in enhancing your
research skills. The more you do it, the better you will be in doing reserch work. Enhancing research skills is importnat as
a student for your assignments and papers as it is when you graduate and work for a company.
Improving Research Skills
- Enhacing the following skills are important in advancing one’s ability to obtain vital information on the Internet.
1. Critical thinking- is very imortant skill to develop in research since the internet is full of valuable data.
2. Analytical skill- requires the ability to look, verbaize conceptualize and, and gather data attuned to the context of the
subject.
3. Problem solving capability- is the ability to present soluctions or solve problems by presenting a decision based on
the given information.
4. Organized data mining- is a well-plannes design of the database of all the reserach materials either inside the
computer or hard copies.
5. Research Presentation- part of a good research is writting skills, the ability to present the ideas and draw conclusions
from the research, be able to explain in writing the porpuse, steps, goals, and objective of the research.
6. Creativity and developed imagination- is the ability to look for alternative solutions to the problems needed to solve
in the research and thinking not only within the context but also beyond the usual approaches to the research
objectives.
7. Computer literacy- knowledge of the various computer application and tols when working with large amount of data
helps the researcher manage these information. Skills in the use of sotware to write, design, and present are also
important.
IMAGING AND DESIGN FOR ONLINE
Source of Photo and Graphics
