COLLEGE ORIENTATION PROGRAM and ACTIVITIES RELATED THERETO

Mission Statement

Osias colleges Inc., orientation program is intended to support new students as they begin their journey
at Osias. It aims to create opportunities and offer understandings that are directly informed by the
educational philosophy and practices of the Osias’s VMGO, and through which students will be able to
engage their passions, challenge their beliefs, and continue to grow intellectually, socially, and
emotionally.

Areas for discussion:

It is the primordial goal of Osias to welcome freshmen and old students with enthusiasm and make them
feel supported by and connected to the people and resources at Osias Colleges.

 Care for students' basic needs

 Deliver accurate and relevant information about life at Osias Colleges
 Offer opportunities for new students to connect with each other and build friendships through
the non-academic activities like foundation day, intramurals, invitation from external linkages to
showcase their talents and skills.
 Provide students with a supportive environment inside the school by participating in different
school clubs and organizations both in the area of academics and non-academics.
 Lay the groundwork for continued education by informing and encouraging deserving students
to apply for the different scholarships offered in Osias .
 Distribution of Student Handbook
 Creation of PARENT -TEACHER ASSOCIATION (College Department)

August 2019 Orientation:

 A Glimpse of College Life - Start the program off with an audio visual of school facilities
and laboratories and student activities to give students a glimpse into what they can
expect to experience in Osias.
 Indulgence of all VP’s, Heads, Teachers and Admin Officials for the orientation
 Participants won't have to sit in the auditorium and listen to long lectures, instead, some
parts during orientation will be filled with orientation leader-led activities/games in small
groups and occasional special performances with some of our performing arts students.
ICE BREAKERS
1. CANDY INTRODUCTIONS
Candy Introductions is a get-to-know-you game that helps people learn
new facts about each other in an easy way. They select various pieces of
candy from a bag, and each candy variety is associated with a fact about
themselves which they will introduce to the others.
INSTRUCTIONS :
Pass around the candy and tell each participant to pick 1 piece of candy.
Instruct them not to eat it yet, though. After they have chosen their candy,
you will tell them what each candy type/color represents.
Write on the whiteboard board the following:
Red – Favorite hobbies
Green – Favorite place on earth
Blue – Favorite memory
Yellow -Dream job
Orange – Tell us anything about yourself!

Each person takes turns introducing himself or herself, beginning with

their name and then saying one fact for each candy type that they have.

2. EXTREME ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS

Setup for Extreme Rock, Paper, Scissors
No special materials are required to play this game, making it convenient
and free to play.

INSTRUCTIONS :
Have each member of the group pair up for the first round of rock, paper,
scissors.
Everyone should be in pairs. Ask them to play 3 games, and the best 2 out
of 3 will be the winner. Teachers should act as a referee.
Have all the winners’ pair up and face off against each other while the
ones they beat are cheering for them.
Repeat this process in elimination, tournament style, until there are only
two players left.
The game is over after one player wins the final match.
A small prize will be awarded to the winner.
