• Ps2 Mini-DIN connector has 6 pins and carries a
1. VGA Port (Video Graphic Array) - 15 pin port arranged in 3
rows to connect monitor
2. DVI (Digital Video Interface) is a video connection
standard. Most DVI ports support both analog and digital
displays. If the display is analog, the DVI connection converts
the digital signal to an analog signal. If the display is digital, no
conversion is necessary.
3. DP (DisplayPort) -is a digital display interface. is primarily
used to connect a video source to a display device such as
a computer monitor, and it can also carry audio, USB, and
other forms of data.
4. HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is a
trademark and brand name for a digital interface used to
transmit audio and video data in a single cable.
• It is supported by modern audio/video equipment,
such as 4K televisions, HDTVs, audio
receivers, DVD and Blu-ray players, cable boxes, and
video game consoles.
4. Ps2 (personal system 2) - The mouse is teal or green and
the keyboard is purple.
• It is used to connect PS/2 Mouse/Keyboard
serial signal at frequencies starting from 10 up to 16
kHz.
• In our days ps/2 port was replaced by usb port,
which is more easy to implement on a PC even
though ps2 offers more capability and a greater
speed.

serial port is most used on industrial devices and
programming.
6. USB Port (Universal Serial Bus)
• is the most used connection point for data transfer in
the world.
• it was created in the mid-1990s with the intention of
replacing all other PC ports like serial port , parallel
port , PS/2 port.
• 127 devices can connected in to USB port.
• USB 1.0 was released. It had a speed range between
1.5 Mb/s and 12 Mb/s.
• Four years later USB 2.0 port was released and had a
maximum speed of 480 Mb/s.
• In 2008 USB 3.0 was release. This technology can
reach speeds of 5 Gb/s which is 10 times faster than
USB 2.0
7. Parallel Port
• Port which allow one byte at a time.
 • 25-36 pin female port to connect printer, scanner &
external devices.

8. Audio Port - An audio port on a computer is any receptacle

or jack to which an audio device such as speakers,
headphones or a microphone can be connected

9. Ethernet port - a network hardware interface used for data

transfer and control between atleast two devices that can
support the ip (internet protocol)
• Is used in the connection between a computer
modem port or network port and a Ethernet
switchThe Ethernet port speed can vary 10Mbps up
to 10Gbps.
• The maximum Ethernet cable length between
switches computers and routers is100 meters or
328ft. After this the signal starts losing in amplitude
and you could experience connection loss.
• If you want to use internet cables on longer distances
it is better to use signal boosters for every 100
meters.
• A more efficient way is to use fiber optic cable who
with special equipment can go up to 20 km without
any signal booster.
