THE STUPID, THE TREE, AND THE IDOL

(The man cutting a tree building it later into an idol)

The curiosity of men is a natural phenomenon innate to him the day he is born, it is not
wrong, but with this curiosity is its often resulting idiocy, which may cause conflicts and
disruptions that are considered wrong. But how dumb are we that we cut down the things that
supply us with what we need to make them into different forms, forms by which we pray unto to
give us the things that we need, things that we should have had but are now gone. How dumb can
we get?
In the cartoon, have I seen a man cutting down a tree which bears fruits that are obviously
edible, after the cutting, he constructed the log into an idol where he prayed on to give him food
to eat. The irony behind the stupidity of the man is really clear to see even if viewed only at one
observation, but we can never deny these kinds of acts as men for we as well do these− may or
may not be necessarily as specific as the picture shows. Every day, a huge number of trees are
being cut, we throw garbage everywhere, waste water as though we have a lot, and other heinous
acts and yet we complain about this unpleasant environment we are having thus we make protests
and blame the government. But do we really have the right to blame somebody that if we look at
our individual selves, we are the ones to blame right from the start? And think of this, this is only
an example from the many “curious” acts of men. How dumb can we get?
The truth really does hurt and if we keep on sugarcoating these truths, we will never learn
and continue living as ignorant, instincts-dependent beings. We should start living on ways
different from the unwise ways, or think of actions that are mentally-deep enough and hope that
these are beneficial not detrimental. Easier said than done I know, but actions are as simple as
speaking words if we have the courage and strength enough to push our limitless thinking through.
For short, let us not be dumb. Because if from one look at the given picture and we already judged
the person as dumb, then maybe, if someone is looking at our own actions, then that someone may
be laughing his socks off with our hypocritical stupidity right now.
Let us aim not to be subjects for travesty, but of honor-worthy inspiration.
