- Mr. Albert Sicladoy of Bakun Benguet. He is an organic agriculture practitioner. He is a member of the
Traditional Raisers Organic Farmers Association. He is engaged in blueberry production.
- Ms. Elsie Organo of bakun Benguet. She is an organic practitioner. She was nominated for “akbab”, “pekaw”
Enhancing Access and “galumaka” – indigenous crops grown around her farm.

Products and - Baguio City Agriculture and Fishery Council (CAFC) - Situated at the Office of the City Veterinarian (OCV),

Provincial Roll - Out of the TOT on Rice Crop Manager (RCM) Use and Operation

Bath 1- May 16-18, 2017 at Tabuk City, Kalinga


Batch 2 -May 23-26, 2017 at Municipal Hall, Sta. Marcela, Apayao

- The activity aimed to teach the participants operate the RCM application to facilitate faster
deployment/generation of RCM recommendations.
- A total of 54 participants completed the training
- Activity and two resource speakers were rated very satisfactory.
- Training output was an action plans prepared by the participants.

- Part of the launching is a two-day Training on Climate Disaster Risk Reduction. Aim of the two-day training to
increase the level of awareness of farmers on natural hazards and disaster risk with knowledge on disaster
management to empower them to support their community in developing disaster-resilient farming activities.

Training on OA for Farmers by AEWs: Training on Organic Agriculture for Organic Agriculture Organization of Dupligan,
Tanudan Kalinga – May 24-26, 2017 at Tabuk City Kalinga

- This was a proposal of the Office for Agricultural Services Kalinga for the benefit of their farmers.
- Farmers of Kalinga have bombarded their farm land with agricultural chemicals unmindful of the harmful effects
to human health and to the environment. It is also an additional burden on their part because synthetic pesticides,
GMO varieties were costly and would require lots of money for investment to farmers.
- Thus, the training was proposed with its aim to encourage the participants to practice organic agriculture and to
be oriented on the Departments of Agriculture's OA Program.
- Completed by 25 participants.

Strengthening AGRICULTURE - Training aimed to conduct internal inspection of at least 10 identified farmer partners as initial step towards
PROGRAM 100% internal farm inspection. With this, 18 farms were internally inspected.

Training on OA for OA organizations: Training On Organic Agriculture For Organic Farmers of Bakun, Benguet – May 10-
12, 2017 at Sinacbat, Bakun Benguet

- The activity aimed to to promote, propagate, develop and implement the practice of organic agriculture in support
to a competetive and sustainable organic agriculture industry.
- Completed by 30 highland farmers.
- Training outputs were participants group action action plan, fermented organic agriculture product and organic
fermented feeds for livestock.
- Activity and resource speakers were rated very satisfactory.
Training Course on the PNS:Code of Good Agricultural Practices for Coffee with Package of Technology (POT) for Coffee
Growers of Kalinga (LGU Proposal)

- Coffee is one of the major crop grown in the province of Kalinga. However, majority of the coffee growers in this
province are not following the proper management of package of technology on coffee production. Hence, this
training.
- This training aimed to encourage the coffee growers to adopt the package of technology of coffee and implement
GAP in their farms so they could apply for certification.
- Completed by 42 coffee growers
- Four (4) resource speakers were rated very satisfactory, two (2) were rated excellent. Overall, activity was rated
very satisfactory.

Training Course on GAP-ICS for SAVERS Group (Phase 3) – May 16-19, 2017 at Cotcot, Bangao, Buguias, Benguet

- The training aimed to conduct internal farm inspection to at least 10-15 identified farmer members as initial step
towards 100% internal farm inspection for SAVERS members.
Training and - Completed by 24 farmer-members.
Extension Support to - Training outputs were inspection plan and draft SAVERS ICS manual.
Regular Programs - Resource speakers were rated excellent. Overall, activity was rated very satisfactory.

HVCD PROGRAM Training on Computer-Based Data Management (CBDM) for Municipal HVCDP Coordinators and Report Officers of CAR
(Batch 2) – May 9-11, 2017 at ATI-CAR

- The training aimed to teach the participants how to organize, process, analyze and package agricultural data using
appropriate computer software and applications.
- Completed by 25 extension workers and seven SUC representatives (BSU)
- Training output was participants’ action plan.
- Activity and resource speaker were rated excellent.

Training of Trainers on Good Agricultural Practices for Fruits and Vegetables for AEWs and GAP Learning Sites of CAR with
NC 2 (Batch 3) – May 2-6, 2017 at ATI-CAR
- The training aimed to enhance the participants knowledge and skills on the basic information about the provisions
of GAP standards, implementation mechanisms, GAP certification protocols for client dissemination and TESDA NC
II Certification.
- Completed by 19 extension workers, one Learning Site owner, four PO representative, one NGO representative and
18 SUC representatives (BSU).
- Out of 43 participants, 41 were assessed and NC II certified on Agricultural Crop Production
- Activity and resource speakers were rated excellent.
Training on the Installation of Internal Control System (ICS) on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) on Corn for Culao
Agricultural Farmers Association, Pinukpuk, Kalinga, Phase 3 – May 23-25, 2017 at Pinukpuk, Kalinga

- The training aimed that atleast 1o farms will be internally inspected against their compliance to the policies,
procedures and guidelines embodied in their GAP-ICS manual. Likweise, they are expected to implement their
individual compliance plans towards GAP certification.
- The organization completed their ICS Phase 1 and Phase in April.

Regular Programs Training Course on Good Agricultural Practices for Corn and Cassava Farmers of Abra – May 8-10, 2017 at Poblacion,
and Commodities: Bagued, Abra
CORN AND CASSAVA
PROGRAM - The training aimed to teach the participants the basic information on the provisions of the standards,
implementation mechanisms and the certification protocols of the Good Agricultural Practices for Cassava in order
to encourage them comply with GAP standards and apply for GAP certification.
- Completed by 38 farmers
- Training output was participants action plan for compliance with the good agricultural practices requirements.

Adopt a Farm Youth (4-H) with NC II on Crop Production

- On May 30, the one-month adopt a farm youth training were launched at Lamut, Ifugao. Host families will be
Aquilina Saguilot’s Organic Farm, Villafuerte Camat’s Integrated Farm and Ivan Baguilat GAP Farm.
Training and - Five 4-Hers will be immersing with their host families to learn their farm technologies that they can adopt for them

- The training aimed to inculcate to the participants gender awareness and sensitivity.
- Completed by 13 RBO coordinators, 21 4-Hers and 13 RICs.
- Resource speakers were rated excellent. Overall, activity was rated very satisfactory.
- Training output was participants’ action plan.
Training for 4th-6th Class Municipalities: Cooperative Pre-Membership Education Seminar for Barangay Pappa – May 29-31,
2017 at Barangay Pappa, Sablan, Benguet (LGU-Proposal)

- The Pappa farmers are interested to form into cooperative, thus, this training was proposed.
- This training is an offshoot of the conducted Trainer’s Congress for ATI-CAR Trainers’ of Training Graduates on
April 26-27, 2017. The proponent of this training, Mr. Rony Carlos was a graduate of the Cooperative Development
and Management Training Program.
- Barangay Pappa is one of the Barangay that needs assistance for growth and development. They are a beneficiary
of the CHARMP 2 Upscaling project.
- The training was completed by 65 Pappa farmers, RICs, youths and senior citizens

Training for IP/IPO: Training on Organic Farming for Mt. Sto Tomas Indigenous People’s Organization, Inc. (MSTIPO) –
May 22-24, 2017 at ATI-CAR, Learning Sites and School for Practical Agriculture.

- Training aimed to encourage them practice organic farming and prepare organic feed and concoctions.
- Completed by 33 Indigenouse People of Tuba, Benguet who are engaged in farming.

- This training is 4in1 - Entertaining (1), Educational (2), Humurous (3), Engaging (4)... Entertaining because the
topics are very interesting. Educational because we learned much on our roles. Humurous because our Resource
Speakers makes us laugh for as not to fall asleep during the lecture and Engaging because they let us participate in
every activity... All these things we have learned, let us take advantage to apply it first at our HOME.." Arjil Jade

- The two resource speakers were rated excellent. Overall, activity was rated was very satisfactory.

Training for 22 Poorest Provinces(Mt. Province)-Batch 3: Training on Rice By-Product Processing for MPHRFAC and RIC
Officers and Members of Barlig, Mountain Province – May 9-11, 2017 at Homestay Chupac, Barlig, Mountain Province

- Conducted by PLGU-Mt. Province.


- Completed by 30 farmers and four youths.
- Training outputs were participants’ action plan and heirloom by-products.
- Activity and resource speakers were rated very satisfactory.
ATI’s Extension Support to Mt. Province (Municipality of Natonin and Paracelis) as Among the 22 Priority
Provinces for Agricultural and Rural Development

Planning Workshop for the Municipality Paracelis – May 2-5, 2017 at Paracelis, Mt. Province

- Municipality of Paracelis is one of the beneficiary of the program wherein nine organizations will be covered.
- Based on the result of the needs assessment, a planning workshop was held to formulate the training and
extension plan for the nine organizations.

Covenant Signing for the Training and Extension Project for Natonin (May 17, 2017) and for Paracelis (May 18,
2017)

- The Provincial Governor of Mt. Province showed his great support to the program through his presence during the
two separate covenant signing spearheaded by the PLGU.
- The purpose of the activity is to forge a covenant of commitment between the PLGU, MLGU, barangay officials and
beneficiary organizations to improve the poor condition of the rural communities of the Natonin and Paracelis.
Extension Support to
Further, this is to ensure that the beneficiaries will take good care of their livelihood projects and will not fail due

- After series of meeting, planning workshops, field validations, the training and extension plan was presented to the
PANAT Team and to the Provincial Governor Hon. Bonifacio Lacwasan, Jr.
- Livelihood projects identified are the following:
a. for Paracelis (9 organizations)
▪ Sustainable Corn Production and Marketing for seven organizations (7 organizations)
▪ Cattle Fattening and Marketing for one organization (1 organization)
▪ Carabao Raising for one organization (1 organization)

b. For Natonin (11 organizations)


▪ Swine Raising and Marketing (6 organizations)
▪ Broiler Raising and Marketing (2 organizations)
▪ Table Egg production (2 organizations)
▪ Coffee Production, Processing and Marketing
- These livelihood projects will be geotagged and be monitored regularly by the Technical Working Group and the
hired Monitoring and Evaluation Officer of the ATI.

- Trainings to be conducted for the beneficiaries will be done on-site or coaching type depending on the livelihood
project of organization.

2. Academic and Technology Integration - Education Program for out-of-school youth (ATI-EP)

- The 13 scholars have completed their field learning exercises at Cosmic Farm, Villafuerte Camat’s Integrated Farm
and at the Lily of the Valley Farm.
- At present, they are undertaking their NC I assessment on Crop Production at the Center’s OA Farm. They are being
assessed by Mr. Jameson Lopez of Kalinga State University.
RIC and 4-H Provincial Agricultural Conference – May 4, 2017 at Benguet Sports Complex, Wangal, La Trinidad, Benguet
- Participated by the 4-H Focal Person Mr. Jener Dizon
Expanding - Held as part of the organizational strengthening of the Rural Based Organization of the Benguet Province.

Launching of IMPACT (Agromet Technology Project) Philippines piloted at Buguias – May 17, 2017 at Buguias, Benguet
- Attended by Engr. Randy Soriano, representing ATI-CAR.
- He was tasked to deliver the closing remark wherein he said that the success of the project lies in the hands of
everyone who is involved. Further, he said that the project will help everyone in the long run. What’s the matter is
not how the project was started but how it will be completed and be sustained.

Inception Meeting on the BAR-funded Heirloom Rice Project in CAR – May 18, 2017 at Banaue, Ifugao
- Attended by the TCS II Arlene L. Flores
- The BAR has provided additional 5M budget for CAR’s Heirloom Rice Project, in addition to the 8 million budget
allocated by the RFO Rice program. One of the four components of the program is on Capability Building where ATI
is involved. Particularly, the TOT-FFS curriculum has been revised to shorten the implementation.

20th Regional Cooperative Month Celebration – May 16, 2017 at BBCCC Building, Assumption Road, Baguio City
- It was suggested that communications will be sent to line agencies to request all the regional directors to appoint a
person per line agency to attend meetings to sustain line of thought of every participating representatives.

Monitoring of Learning Sites/School for Practical Agriculture
- Aquilina Saguilot’s Organic Farm (LS) – the farm needs further improvement in terms of its holding area,
composting facilities, nurseries and greenhouses. Also, farm needs more farm maintenance. The farm is already
registered with BIR. Expressed priority need is the expansion of its holding area.
Field Monitoring
- Villafuerte Camat’s Integrated Farm (SPA) – the farm is well organized with signboards and labels properly
positioned. Expressed priority need is the construction of its lodging house.

Improving - Ivan Baguilat’s GAP Farm (LS) – Holding area and lodging house still being constructed. Farm produce are being
sold at the organic market put up by Mr. Baguilat.

- According to Ms. Ladua-na, the Milking Operation is also a perceived need of the region due to the pronouncement
of Secretary Piñol to re-establish the improve the Baguio Dairy Farm and other provincial dairy farm centers in
Kalinga, Ifugao, Mt. Province and others that can serve as training center for dairy.
• Tales to tell: Writeshop on Success Stories in Agriculture – May 8-12, 2017 at Pampanga
- Completed by the Information Officers, Ms. Jaila Sagpa-ey and Mr. Adrian Chris Velasco.
- Output of Ms. Sagpa-ey and Mr. Velasco is the success story of Mr. Marvin Pascual of LGU-La Trinidad, Benguet and
Magsasakang Siyentista Cornelio Matias of Bauko, Mt. Province.

• Completed Staff Work and Facilitating Skills – March 4-5, 2017 at ATI-CAR
- The training was to equip the participants on how to come up with an accomplished/completed program of work,
guided and implemented with a well-planned structure.
- Also, facilitating skills were included to further empower the skills of the participants.

- The training is in support to the conduct of needs assessment for the ATI Tier 2 Program (Increasing Agricultural
Productivity towards food Security and Poverty Alleviation: Extension Support to the Poorest Provinces with
Highest Poverty Incidence in the Philippines).
