CHAPTER I

Introduction

It's been a long year since the first ever miracle of Jesus was happened in

the wedding in Kanan. It is by putting a gallon of pure water into the barrels and it

suddenly become our primitive alcohol. Since the evolution, the peoples know how

to drink properly but as time passes, they abused it very badly in an inadequately

way and it's called the "alcoholism". They suffered perennially for being tipsy and

that can cause of a very severe disease because of continually abusing the

alcohol. They are blubbering and they can't control their mind in a normal way

because of an odd effect of alcohol.

The alcoholism has its own many definition and it sometimes very hard to

understand. In an easiest definition, the alcoholism has one condition where in the

continually consuming of alcoholic drinks in consequent despite of its bad result to

our social well-being and healthy aspect to one individual. Alcoholism is deemed

or considered to be a harmful dependence or addiction of a someone result of

frequently consuming alcohol often despite of its negative results to the people

who drink alcohol. In the 19's and 20's centuries, they called alcoholism as

"Dipsomania" where in the fascination or the persons that couldn't understand the

negative effects of too much drinking alcohol. Even not in all definitions of it are

stated or telling that the drinking of alcohol frequently is a qualification to put in the

line-up of its original definitions or in other meanings stated that the longtime effect

of alcohol or called long term effects is a result of drinking too much heavy alcoholic

substances with the characteristics of people to depend to an alcoholic drink.

In common and history of addiction, telling that the alcoholism as a result of

continually drinking any type of alcoholic substances despite of health problems

and negative result in one society. When it comes to medicine, it describes the

alcoholism as "disease" that result of a consuming alcohol repeatedly despite of

more negative effects and results. It also can describe alcoholism as a great desire

when it comes to alcohol or they demand freedom to drink alcohol for constraint

and loses of ability to understand and become fearless to a bad result of drinking

alcohol. Drinking alcohol is needed to have alcoholism. It’s not stating that one

person can be under alcoholism only because of a light and rarely drinking of

alcohol. There are many different types of effects of alcohol and from having

alcoholism in different types of person. Especially in those aspects of how many

and how frequent to drink alcohol.

However, in drinking alcohol of a people is not stating that person is

immediately addicted. The quantity or frequency of regular drinking of alcohol is

needed to be find out if one individual can be called under alcoholism because

drinking alcohol become different when it comes into different types of person. The

other factors of qualifications of the alcoholism is our social environment, stress,

mental health and genetic disposition, age and sex of the user. Exceeding 40%

are starting to drink alcohol in the aged of 14, passing 10% are not drinking begin

in the age of 20 and above and developed a problem because of alcohol until in

they became older. The abuse of alcohol in adolescence is can be the root of

longtime changing in the mind of one individual. Since drinking alcohol originally

increase the happiness we felt and when the time wherein they're not busy they
drink alcohol and intend to get benefits from it because of the happiness they

experience by drinking alcohol, but they're not have any idea that its gradually

breaking their Central Nervous System (CNS)

Besides in the effect of alcohol in person’s body, being under alcohol also

harms people’s life. Being addicted in alcohol is time consuming, opportunity to

study, to work and to become beneficial to family members and society.

Research Methodology

This chapter introduces the procedures used in gathering and interpreting

the data of this research. It is primarily present method of research used, research

locale, respondents of the study, sampling technique, data gathering procedure,

data gathering instrument, validation of instrument and statistical treatment. It

provides view to the readers on how the study was made.

Method of Research Used

The descriptive method was used in this study. It involved survey

questionnaire as the primary tool for gathering data needed in the study to access

the impact of alcoholic beverages to Accountancy, Business and Management

grade 11 students.

Research Locale

College of Sciences Technology and Communications Inc. served as the

locale of the study since most respondents reside in this school. Moreover,

Accountancy, Business and Management students become the primary source of

data since all the respondents are lifted here. The researchers choose College of

Sciences Technology and Communications Inc. for the easy gathering of

necessary instruments and processing data.

Respondents of the Study

The purpose of this study was to conduct the survey to the user of alcoholic

beverages in the College of Sciences Technology and Communications Inc. The

researchers gathered the necessary information from the College of Sciences

Technology and Communications Inc. on the number of Accountancy, Business

and Management students they had and they obtained a total of 136 .The

respondents were alcoholic beverages user.

Sampling Technique

In this study, random sampling technique was used through purposive

sampling. The respondents which users were the purpose of this study. Since the

setting of this study was located at College of Sciences Technology and

Communications Inc. And it was consisted of overall population of 136 students

the researchers was decided to use it as their sample size.

Data Gathering Procedure

The draft of the questionnaires and interview questions were referred to the

researcher’s adviser for comments and suggestions before it was subjected for

validation from pool of experts. In addition, consultation with the adviser continued

before the questionnaire was prepared in its final form.

The researchers personally administered the 10 item questionnaire to the

respondents and discusses the significance of the study and distributed materials

properly.

After the questionnaire and interview questions have been accomplished,

the results were tallied and tabulated. These data become the basis of analysis

and interpretation.

In addition, descriptive methods of research involve the description,

recording, analysis, and interpretation of the present nature, composition or

processes of phenomena. This is appropriate in this study since the present study

Validation of the Instrument

The researcher prepared questionnaire that was checked by the

grammarian. After the revision, the researchers conducted a mock survey to the

different set of individuals who were the respondents and who were not.

The researcher submitted the questionnaire to the statistician to test the

validity of each question. The statistician identified the questions that required

revision. The researchers repeated the same procedures until all questions were

considered valid.
Statistical Treatment

To solve the problem in this study. The researchers used the following
