2.10 Adjustment of rudder-turning speed (maximum pump stroke) at FU steering


At FU steering, rudder-turning IIpeed is individually adjusted for both right and left
rudder-turnings. TurningVR6 (P-SPAN) in the DD MOTOR CONTROL AMP, clockwise increases
the rudder·turning speed of STBD to PORT, while turning VR8 (S-SP AN) clockwise increases the
ruddel"turruni speed of PORT to STBD.
(I) 1Wll the steering gear pump ~OFF" and sh ort Control & Power Box TB4 "TIA" to "'r lB"
(steering gear pump operatio1l s ignals),
(2) Connect a digital tester be~een DD MOTOR CONTROL AMP. "erB" and "CT12" (COM)
(maximum pump stroke),
(3) Set SERVO Al\fi'. SWl UnpuL signal selet.'tor switch) to the TES1' mode.
(4) Tv.rn VRIO (TEST) fully C',ounterclockwisc and uoe VR6 (P-SPAN) to adjust the rudder'turning
speed at FU steenne: so that the position of the servo valve indication is tlle same as that of the
servo valve indication at NF s Utlring.
~
(5) Similarly, turn VR10 (TEST) fully clockwise aod use VR8 (S-SPA.N) to adjust the rudder-turning
speed at FU steering.
(6) Con.firm that steering gear rudder t urn.ing speed is set to the specified speed .
For 100% steerinc: gear ~)Utput

Adjust the relevant. VR6 and VR8 so that the ruddcdunring speed is at approx, 23 seconds
per 65 degrees.
For 60% steering gear outp ut
Adjust the relevant VR6 and VR8 GO that the ruddedurning speed is at approx, 23 seconds
per 65 degrees when two pumps are operated in parallel.

Note) The maxlmlU'll pump stroke is adjusted to 3V for both PORT and STBD at thc time of product
shipment, (correspondence to maxim um ~troke of ± 15 degrees)
