• Offline contactless transactions up to a threshold of Rs 2000 or a limit set by the issuing


bank, whichever is lower
• The offline contactless transactions shall not need online authorization from the issuer
host and will not require the customer to enter a PIN.
• Contactless transactions above the bank’s threshold and up to Rs 2000 shall require a
PIN, while transactions above Rs 2000 shall be mandatorily conducted over the contact
interface.

Process involved for adopting NCMC

• Identify the issuers (banks to issue the cards )


• Select the acquirer(s) (SRTU can identify single/multiple
acquirers.
• Negotiate commercial terms with the acquirers
• Provide the electronic ticketing machine to the conductor
• Create an Automated Fare Collection system ( preferably
centralized)
• Create a settlement and reconciliation system ( preferably
centralized)
• Setup a dispute management/Grievance redressal system (
preferably centralized)

RBI’s vision of a “Less Cash” society.
