Objectives Setting Guidelines


C Objectives should be clearly stated and be a result of an agreed discussion between Superior and Employee.
C There is no limitation on the number of Objectives to be set. Ideally it should not be less than six.
C Objectives should incorporate the principles of Balanced Scorecard, covering areas such as:
- Operations / Project Delivery
- Financial
- Capability Development
- HSSE
- Strategy / Growth (Applicable for GM/SM4 and above grade)
C Objectives must meet the SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time bound) criteria.
C During the review discussion at the end of the year (Dec- 2019), Objectives should be rated as follows:
C NA – Not Achieved

Any Objective that was clearly not completed. Attention should be given to discovering why the Objective was
not met. An individual’s failure to meet Objectives must be reviewed in relation to whether the Objective was
clear and well written, or whether it is due to a lack of performance that can be corrected.

C IC – Incomplete
An Objective that was not completed due to circumstances. Details must be clearly documented in the comment
section of the Objective review.
C C – Complete
This rating would be given to an Objective that was clearly met.
