PRINCIPAL’S CORNER
Welcome back! - Our first few days have been filled with setting up systems and structures, learning
routines, and getting to know one another. We are looking forward to a full week, next week!
Welcome to the 2019-2020 School Year! The PTO executive board and event coordinators are excited to
bring another year of enrichment and activities to bring together our community. We hope you’ll join our
efforts in creating great Bishop experience and memories for our students.
Fundraising Assistant - The Fundraising Assistant will assist the Fundraising Coordinator in the
duties listed above.
Spirit Days
The First Friday of Every Month. Each year, students have the chance to showcase their Bishop Pride one
day per month. The first Friday of every month, students are encouraged to wear their Bishop t-shirts or
Bishop colors (yellow/gold and blue). Bishop spirit wear will be available through an order form that will go
home the first week of school and at all Bishop events.

UPCOMING PTO-Sponsored EVENTS
Please join us for back to school morning coffee and donuts. All parents and caregivers are welcome. Mr.
McAnneny will discuss defining admin roles and the new school year. Also, this is a great chance to meet some
of our PTO board members and learn more about our upcoming events.
Once again this school year, “Bishop Dines Out at Not Your Average Joe's” is taking place every Tuesday night
in September. All you have to do is show the certificate and the Bishop School PTO will receive 15% of your
purchase. A certificate will also go home in backpack mail during the first week of school and is also available
on the Bishop PTO website and Facebook page. (By the way, make sure to join this group, if you’re on
Facebook, to keep up to date.) In case you forget to bring the certificate, just mention you’re from Bishop. Why
not bring a friend or make it a grade-level event?

Interested in playing ice hockey in Arlington? Registration is open for the Arlington Hockey
Club's (AHC) 2019-2020 instructional league for both skaters and learn-to-skate,
developmental league, and in-house full ice program. These programs are all no-checking and practices and
games are held at Ed Burns Arena in Arlington. Arlington’s intramural programs provide a fun environment to
learn and play hockey for children born between September 1, 2015 (instructional) and 2006 (in-house). Play
begins soon, so please visit our web-site for more information and registration at www.arlingtonice.com.
In an effort to help defer equipment costs for new players joining the club in either the Instructional or
Developmental Programs, we will be offering free, complimentary equipment as supplies last, on a
first-registered-first-served basis. The families of new players to the program will be invited to come to the rink
and pick from the available equipment (such as shin guards, hockey pants, elbow pads, gloves, and shoulder
pads).
Offerings include KidZone and TeenZone after-school enrichment programs that run once a week for 60-90
minutes immediately after school beginning in late September. Start your planning now with our Fall 2019
Catalog (youth programs begin on page 39). We have an exciting mix of new classes and old favorites plus 175
events for adults.
Please register online at ArlingtonCommunityEd.org. Tuition assistance is available for some classes for
students who receive free or reduced lunch. Please contact our office for details, 781.316.3568.
Are your kids ready to make music this year? Enhance their academic and interpersonal skills with music

Lexington area and parents and kids love our music instructors. Lessons in Piano, Violin, Voice, Guitar, Cello,
Trumpet, Sax, Drums, and much more!
If you contact us to sign up for a month of lessons before September 15 and quote "PTA35", we'll give you
