Educational Media International

Educational media has made a considerable impact on schools, colleges
and providers of open and distance education. This journal provides an
international forum for the exchange of information and views on new
developments in educational and mass media. Contributions are drawn
from academics and professionals whose ideas and experiences come from
a number of countries and contexts.

The Effect of Teaching Model Based on Multimedia and Network on the Student
Learning
Under the waves of the Internet and the trend of era, information
technology is a door connecting to the world to generate the multiplier
effect of learning. Students’ learning should not be regarded as the tool to
cope with school examinations. The frequent contact with computers,
networks, and relevant information allow students enjoying the colorful
life. Some knowledge is broad on the Internet or TV media that the
attraction of learning environments and teaching materials for students’
interests to achieve the teaching effect becomes a primary issue.

experiences. Instructional systems and educational technology have been

receiving great attention from educators in order to enhance students'
learning. Educational technologies such as multimedia presentations are
becoming commonplace. The aim of the research reported in this article
was to establish which multimedia combinations are best for the teaching
and learning of Social Sciences content. A quasi-experimental research
design was used to establish how exposure to different multimedia
combinations on digital videodisc may affect the achievement of pre-
service teachers. The results of the study indicate that when using various
multimedia combinations, the unique nature of Social Sciences can be
addressed effectively.

Effects of multimedia instructional material on students'

learning and their perceptions of the instruction

The present study examined the effects of multimedia instructional

material on students’ learning and their perceptions of the instruction. A
between-group quasiexperimental study design was used for the purpose of
this study. One hundred eleven students enrolled in a Quantity Food
Production laboratory class in two different semesters were designated to
either the control or experimental group. Both groups received traditional
instructor-led orientation sessions about table service and beverage
preparation procedures. However, the experimental group was only
allowed to access new instructional materials presented on DVD. A set of
pretest and posttest was used to collect data. Test gain scores and students’
class performance grades were computed and analyzed to compare
students’ learning outcomes between the two groups. Students’ perceptions
of instruction were measured with their opinions of instruction, their self-

Effect of the use of multimedia on students’ performance: A case

study of social studies class

Human kind has been the subject of a fast changing process he has never
seen or experienced before. The most effective factor in this process is
high probably technology and its influence in societies. This fast changing
process has caused welfare level, prosperity, production, development and
life conditions to be improved in the countries where it exists. The
development and generalization of technology development has affected
the function of educational institutions and a need to raise technology-user
individuals for many fields with industry at the top has emerged (Akpinar,
2003).

A Study on the Impact of Using Multimedia to Improve the Quality of

English Language Teaching

One of the most important uses of technology is that it makes it easy for
instructors to incorporate multimedia into their teaching. There are
different multimedia tools. Three of the most popular ones are visual,
auditory, and kinaesthetic in which students take in information. Some
students are visual learners, while others are auditory or kinaesthetic
learners. While students use all of their senses to take in information, they
seem to have preferences in how they learn best. In order to help students
learn, teachers need to teach as many of these preferences as possible.
Therefore, teachers can incorporate these multimedia tools in their

curriculum activities so that students are able to succeed in their classes.

This study is an analysis of multimedia tools for Iranian EFL students.
Over 100 students complete a questionnaire to determine if their
multimedia tools are auditory, visual, or kinaesthetic. The purpose of this
study is to increase faculty awareness and understanding of the impact of
multimedia tools on the teaching process. A review of the literature along
with analysis of the data will determine how multimedia tools affect the
teaching process.
