2.1 New and Modified Features in SAP Lumira Designer

There are new and modified features in SAP Lumira Designer.

You can find more detailed information on the features in the Application Designer Guide: Designing Analysis
Applications.

2.1.1 Visual Timer

The Visual Timer component is a new basic component.

In contrast to the technical component Timer, the Visual Timer component is visually displayed. You can use it
to execute scripts periodically or to start scripts when the user interacts with the application.

2.1.2 Working with MIME Objects in SAP Lumira Documents

Mode

You can easily work with MIME objects in SAP Lumira documents mode.

When you create a Lumira document on the BI platform or your local maschine, a new empty Lumira document
is created on the BI platform or in the SAP Lumira Documents folder of the local machine. At the same time,
the system also creates a MIME object (MIMEs) folder under the documents node.

Whenever you add MIME objects to your applications, the objects are displayed in a folder hierarchy below the
MIMEs node, reflecting the folder hierarchy in the Lumira document.. There are two types of nodes below the
MIMEs node: folders and files. The MIMEs node itself acts as a special read-only folder.

2.1.3 Dragging and Dropping Dimensions to Data Cells

If you want detailed information on a specific figure in the crosstab and want to get more detailed information,
you can now drag and drop a dimension outside the crosstab to data cells.

2.1.5 Application

The Application object/component now has the following additional or modified properties:

● Disable Browser Context Menu

● Browser Title
● On Scheduling
● Event Delay

2.1.6 Chart Context Menu Enhancements

The Chart context menu has been enhanced.

The following items have been added to the context menu of charts:

Enable Ad-hoc Data Comparison

The context menu item Enable Ad-hoc Data Comparison allows the application user to compare two or more
data points on a bar, column or line chart. When two data points are selected for comparison, both data points
are highlighted. The data comparison in percentage value and actual numerical value is also displayed. When
more than two data points are selected for comparison, a dialog box provides a more detailed comparison of
the data. The data comparison details depicted in the dialog include the sum, average, maximum, minimum
and median results. In addition, the dialog displays in a chart, the data points selected for comparison.

Note
The Enable Ad-hoc Data Comparison context menu item is available as a runtime feature only. It allows the
end user to compare data points while running the application. The data point comparison markers do not
persist.

2.1.15 Working with Templates

Some changes have been made to the set of SAP Lumira Designer templates.

SAP Lumira Designer offers you a set of standard (both blank and predefined) and ready-to-run templates and
samples that serve various design and business needs. When you choose a template, the system automatically
creates a copy of it. You can change the copy according to your needs.

For SAP Lumira Designer the following changes have been made::

● The Generic Analysis Template has been reworked.

● The Samples are new and can be used for demonstration purposes. You can copy, edit or modify the
samples to suit your own composites or applications. The following samples are available::
○ The Dashboard Sample City Analysis shows you a typical Dashboard example with KPI Tiles, Map,
charts, and how these components interact with one another.
○ Within the Feature Samples you can find composites (for example, the bookmark dialog, export to PDF
dialog, comments dialog, card) and their related application. You can open the composites in Lumira
Designer to see how they are designed, and execute the related applications to see how these
functions work at runtime.

Note
Please note SAP cannot provide OSS support for these samples.

2.1.16 Technical Components

There are new technical components in SAP Lumira Designer.

The following technical components have been added:

● Application List
● Comments
● Components

2.1.16.1 Application List

Use the Application List technical component to create a list of bookmarks created in other applications. These
bookmarks can be launched from within the current application.

You can apply the Application List technical component to an application to avail of the functionality that allows
the user to return a list of bookmarks. The bookmarks that are returned by the Application List can come from
multiple documents and applications. Using this component, you can create an application from where the
user can access and launch their list of bookmarks. When they select a bookmark from the list, the application
that contains that bookmark is launched.

You can apply filters to refine the list. The filter type Access Type is a mandatory filter. This filter determines if
the listed bookmarks are Personal or Global. You can also filter the list of bookmarks returned by Folder or
Owner. Both Folder and Owner are optional filters.

For each bookmark listed in the Application List component, a list of bookmark properties can also be returned.
Bookmark properties are based on the BookmarkProperties constant, and include the following:

● id
● title
● description
● group
● folder
● accessType
● readOnly
● creationTime
● lastModifiedTime
● documentTitle
● owner

2.1.16.2 Comments

Use the Comments technical component to add comments to your Lumira document.

The functionality provided by the Comments technical component allows users to create and view comments
in Lumira documents. To avail of this functionality, you must add the Comments technical component to the
Outline view of the design tool. When the Comments technical component is added to the design tool, the

scripting methods associated with the comments functionality are available in the script editor. Comments can
be applied to a Lumira document in the following ways:

● the entire document

● a data cell
● a dimension
● a dimension member
● a context

There are different contexts in which the comments apply to a document (.lumx file). The different types of
contexts include the following:

● DATA
● MEMBER
● DIMENSION
● CONTEXT
● NONE

Comments can be saved and retrieved in local mode and on the BI platform as a platform service.

2.1.16.3 Components

2.1.18 Export Excel Enhancements

You can use the Excel Export technical component to export data sources to Microsoft Excel.

This feature enables the application user to select and export data sources from Lumira Designer into
Microsoft Excel. Data exports the same way as it is displayed in the initial view of the data source. Expanded
hierarchies or expanded multiple hierarchies in either columns or rows, or both, export to Microsoft Excel in the
same expanded state as shown in the data source. A separate tab for each data source is created in the
Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. The order in which the tabs are created matches the order of the selection made
in the Components property of the Export Excel technical component.

In Microsoft Excel 2007, the data source metadata is not exported.

What's New Guide: SAP Lumira

SAP Lumira Designer PUBLIC 17
2.1.19 Export PDF Enhancements

The Export PDF technical component has been enhanced.

The following enhancements have been made to the Export PDF feature:

Fit to Page Width

The Components to Fit Page Width property within the Design area of the Export PDF technical component
properties is used to specify the components that scale to fit the page width of the exported PDF. The page
width is determined by the settings within the Paper Size and Orientation properties. Currently this property
applies to the Crosstab component only. Select the Components to Fit Page Width property ellipsis button to
call the Select Components dialog. The Select Components dialog allows you to decide which crosstab to fit to
the PDF page width. If there are no components selected to fit to page width, and if the Crosstab does not fit
the width of the page, the Crosstab is split across multiple pages.

Note
The components will only scale down to fit to page width. Components will not scale up to fill available space
on the PDF page, if extra space is available.

Include Comments in PDF Appendix

Certain types of comments that are added within a Lumira document (.lumx file), can be included for export to
PDF. The exported comments are added within a specific comments area of the PDF appendix. To add
comments to the appendix, set the value to true in the Comments Visible property within the Appendix area of
the Export PDF technical component properties.

The following types of comments can be added to the appendix:

● comments with a context type Context

● comments with context type None

Note
The Appendix Visible property must be set to the value true to allow comments to appear in the appendix.

Formatting to Metadata in Headers and Appendix

The export to PDF feature applies enhanced formatting in the crosstab, in the metadata of the header, and in
the metadata of the appendix.

What's New Guide: SAP Lumira

18 PUBLIC SAP Lumira Designer
When a crosstab is exported to PDF, there is now a visual contrast between cell content and the column and
row headers. This formatting offers the user a visual representation that looks more like the original view of the
crosstab in the design tool. The following elements are formatted within the crosstab:

● column headers
● row headers

Formatting is also applied to the metadata in the header in the exported PDF. Instead of listing all values beside
the filter or variable names in the header, the number of filters or variables is displayed in the header in
brackets. This improved formatting means that the user can more clearly see the filter and variable names
within the headers in their exported PDF. The following elements are formatted within the header metadata:

● variable names and values

3.1 New and Modified Features in SAP Lumira Discovery

There are new and modified features in SAP Lumira Discovery.

You can find more detailed information on the features in the End User: SAP Lumira Discovery.

3.1.1 Linked Analysis

Linked analysis lets you define how charts interact. You select dimensions on a source chart and its related
actions occur in the target charts (secondary charts).

You can use linked analysis for charts that are based on the same dataset, or for charts that are based on
different datasets that contain linked dimensions.

3.1.2 Filters

Additional features have been provided for filters.

● Filter on Measure: You can filter on a measure, to filter data based on certain conditions in a visualization.
Measures contain quantitative data, so filtering this type of data generally involves filtering certain ranges
of values.
● In earlier releases, the dimension and the hierarchy levels were displayed as as flat list in the filter pop-up.
With this release, when you filter a dimension that includes a dimension hierarchy, you can expand or
collapse the nodes of the hierarchy to show or hide dimensions. This lets you select child nodes of specific
dimension members.

3.1.3 Preview

Several features have been added to preview.

● You can switch between stories by choosing from the Story list.
● You can navigate between pages using left or right navigation, or you can type the page number to display

The new fiorified SAP BI Launch Pad is a redesigned version of BI Launch Pad, with which you consume SAP
Lumira documents in a new way. You can view the documents from a new unified viewer. The new fiorified BI
Launch Pad comes with the same features as the earlier BI Launch Pad, plus some extra functionalities that
helps you interact more easily with documents. With SAP BI Lunch Pad on SAP BI Platform 4.2 SP05 version,
then you can leverage the latest version of SAP Lumira Server and its advanced functionalities.

4.1.2 Support for Single Add-on

SAP BusinessObjects Lumira now offers support for single add-on.

With combined server side add-on, you can open stories (created with Lumira Discovery) and analysis
applications (created with Lumira Designer) and they appear the same for authors and for consumers.

SAP Lumira Server is installed on the SAP BusinessObjects BI platform and hosts the execution runtime of
Lumira documents that are created from Lumira Discovery and Lumira Designer as well as analysis
applications created with Lumira Designer or Design Studio. Administrators manage and secure Lumira
documents and analysis applications with standard tools and mechanisms of the BI platform. Business users
can viewLumira documents and analysis applications from the BI Launchpad in desktop browsers. They can
interact with data (filtering, sorting, ranking, for example), adapt visualizations, create and share personal
views (bookmarks), export data, and print Lumira documents.

4.1.3 Creating SAP BW Online Documents in SAP Lumira

Server

In SAP Lumira Server you can create an SAP Lumira (.lumx) document by acquiring data directly from SAP
