Dear Sir and Ma’am,

On behalf of the faculty and staff of Senator Renato "Compañero" Cayetano Memorial Science and
Technology High School, and the schools of the Division of Taguig City and Pateros, I would like to thank the
Fort Bonifacio Development Foundation Inc. (FBDFI) for supporting public science education by sponsoring
educational programs that benefit our students and teachers for the this school year 2018-2019.
Specifically, I would like extend our gratitude to FBDFI for sponsoring the Science Wonder Workshop
(SWW) for the teachers of Taguig city and Pateros, which were facilitated by the team at The Mind Museum,
from 2016 up to present.
These programs consisted of five sessions and focused on the use of technological advancements in
teaching Science subjects, both in elementary and high school. Nowadays, the learners have indeed adapted to
the fast-changing & various forms of technology. Hence, students tend to be more engaged and interested in
the topics when technology is integrated into the lessons. Further, learning becomes more fun and enjoyable in
terms of teaching the same topics, provided new technologies are used. What is more, technology can
encourage a more active participation in the learning process which can be hard to achieve through a traditional
lecture environment.
Having said these, I would like to request for your continued support in this New Year by sponsoring
another Science Wonder Workshop (SWW) for the teachers of Cayetano Science High School as well as other
public schools in Taguig City. Given the positive effects of the previous SWW on the teachers, we believe these
positive effects can be most effectively multiplied through a workshop involving more teachers as well as
encompassing more basic topics, especially in the grade school or elementary level. A workshop that will focus
on the basics such as finding good resources for activities and projects on the internet, as well as sample
activities which will greatly help teachers as resources are currently difficult to find due to limited materials
provided by the Department of Education.
The previous SWW sessions, which focused on the ins and outs of the scientific process and how it
applies to our students’ high school science research, have been received very positively by the teachers who
participated in them. We would like to build on this positive response by requesting for a third round of SWW
sessions, this time focusing on the integration of technology in terms of using the internet and other educational
tools on the net. We hope that this will help us teachers in improving our coaching and mentoring abilities so that
more of our students can produce high quality science projects that can compete in inter-school science fairs.
Thank you very much, more power, and a happy new year to you!
