RISK FACTORS  Paralysis Weakness, numbness, altered LOC, paralysis, speech
 Brain death and vision disturbances, decreased or increased HR,
 High blood pressure
severe HA, difficulty swallowing, vertigo, facial
 Age drooping of affected side.
 Smoking
 A-fib R side: paralyzed L side, short attention span, denial,
impulsive, impaired judgment and concept of time.
 TIA
 PVD L side: paralyzed R side, impaired speech, no R/L
 CAD discrimination, slow performance, depression,
anxiety, impaired comprehension of language /math

NURSING INTERVENTIONS
PATHOPHISIOLOGY
 Airway management
An abnormal condition of the brain MEDICAL DIAGNOSIS  Cerebral profusion promotion
characterized by occlusion by an embolus,
Stroke (CVA)  PT
thrombus, or cerebrovascular hemorrhage or  Communication/speech therapy
vasospasm resulting in ischemia of the brain
