PARACETAMOL generic name
FEVERGAN- brand name Prescription for Paracetamol:
125mg/5mLSuspension preparation
Paracetamol mkdose= 10-15 mgkg/dose
Rules:
13.2kg x 10 mg ÷ 120mg
- Written prescriptions should be legible and accurate Kg/dose 5ml
- Prescription for Schedule II controlled substances
must be written in ink, indelible pencil or type-written 13.2kg x 10 mg ÷ 5ml = 5.5mL/dose
o Controlled substances- barbiturates, Kg/dose 120mg
narcotics etc (needs s2 license and must Paracetamol 120mg/5mL
have a triplicate copy of it) Disp# 1 bottle; 60mL
- Blank prescriptions should not have the name of a Sig. Give 5mL(1 tsp) every 6 hrs for pain if necessary

Amoxicillin mkdose= 20-40 mg/kg/day (always use the

o Antibacterial- amoxicillin, clindamycin, Sig. Give 5mL (1 tsp) every 8 hrs for 7 days

3. Compute 22.8kg x 10 mg ÷ 250mg
o Weight in kg multiplied by the preparation of Kg/dose 5ml

o Weight in kgs x recommended mkd(dose) Kg/dose 5ml

divided by preparation = 4.96 ml/dose
