(Lead Designer)

point you do so on the basis that you accept that the content will be kept
strictly confidential. You will use your best endeavours to maintain the
information herein as confidential. If you do not accept this restriction you
should not participate further in this test. 

1. INTRODUCTION

Our mission at Spacefinish is to improve lives. Since we spend 80% of our


adult life in the office, Spacefinish has a vision to transform offices across
the world into agile workspaces that inspire productivity, innovation, and
collaboration. The workspace has been marginalized with little attention
given to the environments in which employees work. At Spacefinish we
believe we can create better work environments that improve our client’s
business and way of life. By taking a human centered approach to design
we are able to prioritize research and insight gathering into how employees
work, play, and collaborate, thereby allowing us to turn those insights into
innovative solutions that help our clients achieve higher levels of excellence
in their respective fields.

2. DESIGN ASSESSMENT BRIEF

This is a design assessment that has been put together to test your abilities
as a designer. In this test we have provided you with a fictional brief from a
client. The client is Sapphire, a consulting firm in Nigeria, who is committed
to driving creativity and innovation in the way they engage their customers.
To this end, you are to design an innovation center space that allows the
consulting firm to drive creativity, learning and co-creation of their fin-tech
products. This new office space is important to your client because it is
expected to drive business growth, value to stakeholders and connect
Sapphire Consulting firm with the local developer/tech eco-system.

Expected users of the space will be:

• Employees
• Partners (developers and other technology companies)

Space requirements:

• Staff strength is currently 14, however the client wants to ensure the
space is designed for future head count growth
• General work area
• CEO office that can seat 1 person and 2 visitors
• Head Of Operations office that can seat 1 person and 1 visitor
• Reception that can seat 3 visitors and a permanent receptionist
• Kitchenette/cafe that can seat 9 people, a sink, microwave, and fridge
• A Meeting room that can seat 4 people (brain storming room)
• A conference room that can seat 10 to 15 people
• A Printing Bay
• Restrooms: 2 male , 1 female


4. DELIVERABLES

• Detailed Floor plan


• We will be accessing the candidates ability to put together a
detailed floor plan, and their spatial layout / analysis ability

• A short paragraph describing the design theme that would be guiding


your design solutions on this project. It should be a brief summary of the
design style, material choices, and overall conceptual look and feel. You
should feel free to include hand drawn sketches or reference images that
help you better convey your design theme.

• We will be accessing the candidates ability to convey communicate


conceptual ideas, and overall general presentation skills.

• 3D design of the brainstorming room ONLY. Please note that the


location of this room is fixed, and has already been highlighted in the
downloadable SketchUp model.

• We will be accessing your modelling abilities, in addition with your


design/creativity to create functional workspaces that allow its users
to be productive, innovative and collaborative.

• A call out detail of a workstation table in the office and its wire
management system. Please specify in your floor plan which workstation
table in your design you have chosen to detail.

• We will be accessing your attention to detail, your drafting abilities,


and your general understanding of ergonomics and micro
efficiencies in the workspace.
• Make a recommendation of the list of construction drawings that will be
required for this particular project. Do note that you are only required to
list them out, and not draw them.

• We will be accessing your understanding of project scope and


working drawings.


5. Assets

We would be providing you with the following support assets that you
should use to guide your design solutions:

• Existing floor plan in CAD


• Google SketchUp 3D model
• MoodBoard
• Brand elements

6. Test Submission

Please note your submission should be in 1 pdf document, and total size
should not be larger than 50MB

Your submission must be received no later than 1 week from receiving this
document.

BRAND ELEMENTS
The colours can be combined in many different ways to create diversity,
the colours are optimistic and bright.

The BLUE becomes the hero colour on all primary communication .

The white speaks of cleanliness of the brand.

The spectrum of the colours can be used to highlight areas of significance


or to add subtle vibrance to specific elements
