Another year has gone by and another set of mind-blowing South Indian movies have made history at the box-office.
Movies like Dhanush’s Vada Chennai, Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha’s 96, Fahadh and Aishwarya’s Varathan,
Yash’s KGF and Keerthy Suresh’s Mahanati are some of the top South films that have impressed us in 2018. With
a whole year ahead of us, we wonder if the 2019 South Indian movies would be more stunning than the ones that
released in 2018. If you need a film calendar for 2019 South movies, then you are at the right place.

Saaho

A lot is riding on this movie for superstar Prabhas. The actor who became everyone’s darling after the magnum
opus Baahubali will be looking forward to having yet another successful film. Directed by Sujeeth, this is one of the
costliest Telugu films. Made on a whopping budget of Rs. 300 crore, Saaho is set for a release on 15th August, 2019.
This action-thriller also stars Shraddha Kapoor, who will be making her debut in South Indian cinema with Saaho.

Mr. Local

Sivakarthikeyan’s 13th film is gearing up for a release in May. Also starring Nayanthara in the lead, this is an out-
an-out comedy film. If the trailer is anything to go by, the film seems to be entertaining. The film revolves around
the story of Manohar (Sivakarthikeyan), a middle-class youth and a super-rich entrepreneur Keerthana
(Nayanthara).

Oru Yamandan Prema Kadha

Dulquer Salmaan who was caught up with Tamil, Telugu and Hindi projects is making a comeback to Malayalam
with his new film. Directed by BC Noufal, Oru Yamandan Prema Kadha stars Dulquer, Salim Kumar, Vishnu
Unnikrishnan, Samyuktha Menon and Soubin Shahir.
His other upcoming project is the Hindi film – Zoya Factor which also stars Sonam Kapoor.

Lucifer

A Prithviraj Sukumaran directorial, Lucifer is the most-awaited Malayalam film of 2019. Starring everyone’s
favorite Mohanlal, Lucifer created quite a stir on the internet when this project was announced. It’s not just
Mohanlal, actor-director Prithviraj has roped in Manju Warrier, Vivek Oberoi, Indrajith Sukumaran, and Tovino
Thomas for this project. Produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas, Lucifer is
touted to release in March.

Super Deluxe

Vijay Sethupathi has had a dream run in the past few years. Being part of blockbuster movies like 96, Chekka
Chivantha Vaanam, and Vikram Vedha among others, he has proved why he is called Makkal Selvan. He is one of
the few Tamil actors whose film choices are amazing. Vijay Sethupathi plays the role of Shilpa, a transgender in this

Thiagarajan Kumararaja’s film. A very different and unique role for any star of his calibre, this will be an exciting
movie to watch in theatres. The film also stars other big stars like Samantha Ruth Akkineni and Fahadh Faasil.

Madhuraraja
Raja is back and how! Mammootty’s very successful film Pokkiri Raja made his character Raja a huge hit among the
Malayalam film loving audience. The star is back in the same stylish avatar as Raja but this time as Madhuraraja.
Tamil actor Jai will has been cast in a very important role too. The trailer is loaded with power-packed dialogue and
you should watch it right now.

Athiran

Fahadh Faasil is on a blockbuster spree. After giving hits like Varathan, Super Deluxe and Kumbalangi Nights,
Fahadh is back in cinemas with his new film Athiran. Also starring Sai Pallavi, this is a suspense thriller with a tinge
of horror elements as seen from Athiran trailer. The film will also have Sai Pallavi making a comeback to Mollywood
after her last appearance in Kali (2016).

Yajamana

An out-an-out mass film, Yajamana is the big Darshan Thoogudeep film Sandalwood fans have been waiting for.
Releasing on 1st March, 2019, Yajamana also stars Rashmika Mandana, Dhananjay, Thakur Anoop Singh, and
others. Challenging Star Darshan Thogudeep looks menacing in his beefed up avatar in the trailer that has gotten
everyone’s attention. Will this be the big Kannada hit of the year 2019? Let’s wait and watch!

118

Nandamuri Kalyan Ram’s new film 118 is all set for a release on 1st March, 2019.  The 118 trailer saw the plot
revolve around actress Nivetha Thomas. An action-packed thriller, Nandamuri Kalyan looks to find a hidden truth
throughout the trailer. the movie also stars actress Shalini Pandey of Arjun Reddy fame.

NGK

This Suriya Sivakumar Tamil film has been delayed for the longest time now. But according to recent reports and
social media rumors, NGK may have a grand release in 2019. Directed by Selvaraghavan, this political drama also
stars Rakul Preet and Sai Pallavi.

Kaappaan

A KV Anand action-thriller, this is another most-awaited Suriya film of 2019. Kaappaan also stars Mohanlal who
will be making an appearance in Tamil cinema after his role in the 2014 movie Jilla. Kaappaan poster was shared on
1st January and from the poster, it looks like Suriya will be playing the role of a bodyguard or an NSG officer.
According to reports, he will be protecting the Prime Minister of the nation whose character will be essayed by
Mohanlal. The film also stars Arya.

Maharshi

Probably one of the most awaited Telugu films of 2019, Maharshi stars Mahesh Babu. Fondly known as the Prince of
Tollywood, Mahesh’s new film was to release on 5th April, 2019 but it has now been pushed to 25th April, 2019. Also
starring Pooja Hegde, Maharshi is directed by Vamsi Paidipally and jointly produced by Sri Venkateswara
Creations, Vyjayanthi Movies and PVP Cinema.

Airaa

Directed by Sarjun KM and produced by Kotapadi J Rajesh, this is a horror thriller starring superstar Nayanthara. If

the Airaa teaser is anything to go by then the film will definitely send chills down your spine. Airaa was supposed to
release during Christmas last year but now the release date has been pushed and there is no confirmed date as of
now.
Jersey

It is a sports drama focusing on a cricketer named Arjun (Nani) who recognizes his talent very late in his career.
Jersey has created a huge interest in it after the release of its teaser. In a cricket-crazy country like India, Jersey has
what it takes to be a blockbuster. Directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, Jersey will release in April 2019.

Love Action Drama

This Malayalam film will bring Nivin Pauly and Nayanthara together for the first time ever. Two of the biggest
superstars in their own right, this is a combo we can’t wait to see on the big-screen. Nivin had two good movies in
2018, Kayamkulam Kochunni and Hey Jude, while Nayanathara had Kolamaavu Kokila and Imaikka Nodigal to
her credit last year. Directed by Dhyan Sreenivasan, there are not many updates yet about Love Action Drama.

MAJILI
This film has the husband-wife duo of Chaitanya and Samantha in the lead. Majili releases on 5th April, 2019 and
is the fourth time the couple will be seen together in a film. Going by the teaser, Majili is an unusual love story.

Chaitanya plays the role of Poorna, a young man who is in love with a girl played by Divyansha. However, with a
failed cricketing career comes a failed relationship. Poorna marries a woman (Samantha) who is unperturbed by her
husband’s treatment of her. Majili will give us yet another film to witness the magical chemistry between Samantha
and Chaitanya. Will they be able to recreate the same magic they did in their previous films? Let’s wait and find out!
