ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to assess the student’s common errors in word ussage,
their concentration, awareness and difficulties on the given difficult words such as ng
and nang, kung and kong, may and mayroon, din and rin, hanapin and hanapan, pakiusap
and ipakiusap, susubukan and susubukin, sundin and sundan. The responses of the
students were then tallied and summarized. The researches used the the
gathered were statistically treated using simple percentage and weighted mean. However
after tallying and summarizing the data this study the following conclusion are hereby
presented: The difficult word “din at rin” was not given emphasis and value by the
students. Although the administration had inculcated to the hearts and mind of the
students the word “din at rin” were not valuable to them. This simply means that this is a
challenge to our administrators, teachers, and other teaching staff on how to encourage
students to focus more on this common error in word usage. The stated recommendations

grammar laid out in Chomsky (1965). A core aspect of Standard Theory states that
students fail to comprehend the grammatical structure of a sentence so, they find
difficulty to understand the thoughts of the given sentence. This proves that students
make errors because they don’t fully comprehend the grammatical pattern of
usage. Students simply lack linguistic knowledge. This view has been around since
the invention of writing, and most teachers still turn to it as the default. The Standard
Theory suggest that we should teach students the grammatical patters of correct
language, and how these patterns are distinguished from the incorrect. Such
they can internalize and unconsciouly imitate the patterns. Supporting this theory is
the L-1 Interface Theory, Similarly, this theory suggest that students will transfer the
grammtical patterns of native dialects of their language into their school writing.
This theory comes to us courtesy of our colleagues who teach ESL and foreign
languages. The L-1 Interface Theory suggests a similar response to the standard
theory, except that instruction should be tailored to the specific errors and
speak a native language that lacks the inflectional morphology on verbs that
characterizes language and they tend to leave endings off of verbs, instruction
Why is so much speaking so bad and how can we make it better? Is Filipino
Language being corrupted by texting and social media? Does anyone today even care
about good speaking.According to Stephen Pit Corder (1967), generally known aas Pit
Corder, was a professor of applied linguistics at Edinburgh University, known for his
contribution to the study of error analysis. He says “a learner’s error are significant in
that they provide to the research an evidence of how language is learned or acquired is
fundamentally a process that involves the making of mistakes. This study will help
students to gain more knowledge on how to correct their common error in writing and
speaking our own national language, this will help students develop their speaking and
writing capability, gain confidence, boost their self- esteem and prepare them in their
future career and to cope up with the global trend with our changing generation today.
Institutions as we describe it are the second home students can have. Through this study
the institution will be guided accordingly to what are the techniques, ways and methods
to be used in order to correct common error in speaking our national language. This
study also provide opportunity to institutions to offer practical solutions on how to guide
staff, teachers, employees on how to manage student well and to reflect on the common
error use and apply during conversation and even in writing skills. Teachers can
appreciate this study because they are the ones who mold students into what they will
become in the future. They have the responsibility on teaching how to correct a simple
common error commited by the students on their daily conversation with others. This
will serve as devices by which the learner discovered the common errors in speaking our
own national language. Parents are the one who support students through the times they
needed help, understanding and love will be more aware on how to deal effectively with
their children through this study, as we all know parents are the first teachers that
students could have. They are the one who build a harmonious and peaceful environment
can widen their mind on how to make their son/daughter live in the way how will be they
become in the future. Entity also can gain more ways on how to handle applicant’s to
their company, especially today’s generation” they must be aware of saying that “the
only constant in this world is change” and the more one accepts one’s strength and works
towards dealing with their shortcomings, especially in the area of communication skills,
the better will be their interactions, the more door open for different kind of opportunity
benefited from this study. It will enlighten their mind on choosing the right and
deserving person to be hired from the position they offer. In order for their company to
be successful in their career they must choosen the best human resource they can have.
They must jnow how to distinguish the capacity of the employee through the power of
speaking skills. The key to successful communication is speaking nicely, efficiently and

Conclusion
Based on the computed data presented on the table, showed that all freshmen students

generation. The rest of the difficult words given were used by the freshmen students
correctly such as nang at ng, kung at kong, may at mayroon, hanapin at hanapan,
The researchers also found out that the number one factor that contributed the
