CHAPTER I. INTRODUCTION
1.1. Background Issues
Maintaining health depends on proper eating and drinking and on the ability
of people to maintain clothing, shelter, air, sleep, wake up, mobility, rest, sex,
excretion and body care . If these aspects are met in accordance with the
condition of the body, area, age, and habits, then a person will have good health
until the end of his life (Ibnu, 2013).
In this era there are many cases of mental and physical mental health
problems, the types and shapes are also diverse, there are diseases that arise
that have never appeared before, of course humans with the power and efforts
to treat diseases that afflict themselves, many assets have been sacrificed for
recovery efforts, the number of hospitals and clinics from day to day as the
number increases from a large number, hospitals and clinics are always full, and
diseases are increasingly rampant and continue to multiply, the benefits are
increasingly varied, it can even be said to be in line with the advancement of
medical science and technology, from infectious diseases to diseases
non-infectious / metabolic diseases which from day to day are increasing in
number snya, the average age of people who contracted metabolic diseases for
example, strokes, diabetes mellitus, coronary heart disease at a young age is
also a lot happening (Hanafi, 2014)
Directly nutritional problems are also associated with infectious diseases. This
is because the food consumed is used to increase immunity and repair damaged
cells due to infection (Ministry of Health 2013). Healthy lifestyle habits are one of
the factors that can affect health conditions. Clean and Healthy Life Behavior
(PHBS) is the application of health behavior by a person or group of people
consciously with the aim of improving health (Ministry of Health 2011).
The habit of washing hands with running water and soap before eating and
after from the bathroom using clean water, doing physical activities, consuming
fruits and vegetables every day and not smoking can minimize the avoidance of
infectious diseases (Ministry of Health 2011). Suhrcke (2011) states that
implementing a healthy lifestyle will reduce the risk of experiencing health
problems such as insomnia, ARI and other health problems.
The application of clean and healthy lifestyle (PHBS) indirectly prevents the
occurrence of nutritional problems due to infection. One of the healthy
behaviors is physical activity. The application of regular physical activity can
maintain stamina (Ministry of Health 2013). Nationally, the population that has
met the PHBS criteria in 2011 was only 55% and is expected to reach 70% in 2014
(Ministry of Health, 2013).
With this condition it can cause various diseases and can reduce the quality
of human resources. In order to realize healthy physical, mental and social
human resources by having optimal productivity, it is necessary to continuously
maintain and improve health efforts that start from the womb, toddlers, school
age to old age. With this often can improve the quality of health which also
affects the quality of human resources (Kusmayadi, 2011)
Research on attitudes towards PHBS in students of the Citra Husada Mandiri
Kupang Health Sciences School (STIKes CHM-K) (2010) conducted by Susanti Sina
Art, et al reported 88.7% of 346 STIKes CHM-K students showed positive
attitudes about PHBS and 11.3% of students showed negative attitudes about
lifestyle (Seni, 2010)
Students belonging to the category of late adolescents were one group that
was vulnerable to nutritional problems and health. This is because adolescence is
a period of transition to adulthood and as an important period in the life cycle. In
adolescence there is a physical and psychological development of children
becoming adults (Slamet 2010).
Everything depends on intelligence in managing a healthy lifestyle that every
day will certainly face various challenges. This is because the disease that comes
not because of poor or rich factors, but depends on intelligence in maintaining
the body with full responsibility and awareness of the importance of health
(Mohammad, 2015) as in Al-Qur'an surat Al-Baqorah ayat 222 Allah SWT says
that reads:
َ ﯾﺤ ﱡﺐ اﻟ ُﻤَﺘ َﻄ ﱢﻬ ِﺮ
ﯾﻦ ِ ﯾﺤﺐ اﻟﺘّﻮاﺑﯿﻦ َو
ّ َإِ ﱠن اﷲ
Meaning: "Indeed, Allah likes those who repent and like those who purify
themselves."
Based on secondary data obtained by UNIDA Gontor Putri Mantingan, Ngawi
is a University in Kab. Ngawi who has a vision of "Becoming a leading university
that integrates science, technology and humanities with Islamic sciences and
keeps abreast of the times in 2030". UNIDA Gontor has seven faculties and
seventeen Study Programs that have been accredited by the Government of the
Republic of Indonesia through the National Accreditation Agency (University
Guide, 2017).
The results of the initial survey at UNIDA Gontor Putri Mantingan showed
that the facilities and facilities provided by the University were classified as
adequate. However, when the researchers took the initial data there was still a
lot of garbage scattered everywhere. Rasulullah saw.:
ِ )ﻓﺈ ﱠن اﷲ ﺗﻌﺎﻟﻲ َﺑَﻨﻲ
ِ
Meaning: "Allah builds Islam above cleanliness. And will not enter heaven
except those who maintain cleanliness ”(HR. Thabraani).

Is there a relationship between the knowledge and attitudes of female students about
the healthy life of the Prophet Muhammad and the practice of PHBS at the
UNIDA Gontor Putri?
