Life and Works of Rizal

Dr. Jose P. Rizal is the national hero of the Philippines. He was the one who led the Filipinos to
start a revolution against the Spanish Government to attain freedom and to gain control of the
country. He is well-known for being a propagandist and his way of fighting the Spanish
Government through his writing by revealing the inhumane manipulation of the Spanish
Government in the Philippines. He chose to have a silent war and not a bloody war because he
thinks that it is the only way to gain freedom. Through that, other Filipinos were motivated to get
that freedom. They started many revolts against the Spanish Government. Personally, I admire
Dr. Jose P. Rizal because he made a difference for our country to have that freedom. And I am
thankful for what he did and I am proudly to say that I am a true blooded Filipino.

Some of them discovered Rizal in a one peso coin, while others are in the classroom which was
first introduced Dr. Jose Rizal’s novel “Noli Me Tangere”, and he is also known for his high
grades indeed. He is a brilliant student who became proficient in multiple languages , Jose Rizal
also studied medicine in Manila. But he traveled in Spain to complete his medical degree. While
in Europe he became a part of the propaganda movement. One person can be called as a hero
when they do good things in our society and even in our beloved country, like what Jose Rizal’s
did he had proven that the pen is mightier than the sword and he didn’t use violence to fight off
Spaniards . Rizal’s pen may not have an immediate effect , but it made a more lasting impact and
still very significant after generations of Filipinos. He became the Philippine National hero
because he fought for freedom in a silent but powerful way. He used to expressed his feelings
through his novels, essays, and articles rather than through the use of force or aggression. Rizal
is considered as our greatest hero because he was capable of revolutionizing the way of a
Filipino thought. He was a vey amazing person during his time and until now he is known as
one of the legends here in our country.

He used his intelligence, talents and skills in a more peaceful way rather than the aggressive way
and he also sacrifice his lovelife and his quite life for the sake of our country and also for the
Filipino people. He enlightens his people about their status in society by writing his novel the
Noli Me Tangere and El filibusterismo which is very helpful as of now because we will
reminisce on what happen on our country before, for us also to enlighten that we should not let
other people to bound us.
For Rizal, the mission of education is to elevate the country to the highest seat of glory and to
develop the people’s mentality. Since education is the foundation of society and a prerequisite
for social progress, Rizal claimed that only through education could the country be saved from
domination. Rizal’s philosophy of education, therefore, centers on the provision of proper
motivation in order to bolster the great social forces that make education a success, to create in
the youth an innate desire to cultivate his intelligence and give him life eternal.

Dr. Jose P. Rizal's death on December 31, 1896, changed the Philippines. The Filipinos were
truly affected by his death in a sense that they were urged to start a revolution against the
Spanish government to gain control of the Philippines. Yearly, there is a commemoration of his
death called Rizal Day. This is the day where Filipinos remember his death and his sacrifice for
the country. He greatly influenced the Filipino people because of what he did for the country.
Most of the Filipino people started to strive really hard for their education to have a successful

Dr. Jose Rizal has influenced me to strive really hard in life. Education is the important key to
this success. Living his principles will get me somewhere in this life. Remembering his
principles teaches me how to be like him in a way that he made a difference for the country. I
want to do the same thing to in which I am doing something for my country. And I'm not going
to forget about his legacy. With the best of my ability, I will try to continue this legacy. In the
end, there is no doubt that Rizal is the first to envision himself and his country as a nation of
Filipinos and to uphold its liberty from the occupiers. His self-sacrifice has been modeled him to
be a hero of the Philippines. He will remain as a heart of a Filipino revolution and the Philippine
National hero and remain at the heart of every Filipino people as the best national hero of the

Today, Dr. Rizal’s brilliance, compassion, courage, and patriotism are greatly remembered and
recognized by the Filipino people. His two novels are continuously being analyzed by students
and professionals.Colleges and universities in the Philippines even require their students to take a
subject which centers around the life and works of Rizal. Every year, the Filipinos celebrate
Rizal Day December 30 each year to commemorate his life and works. Filipinos look back at
how his founding of La Liga Filipina and his two novels had an effect on the early beginnings of
the Philippine Revolution. The people also recognize his advocacy to achieve liberty through
peaceful means rather than violent revolution.
