1. Clari5 Entity Link Analysis Solution

1.1 Solution overview

Clari5 provides graphical visual link analysis tool to discover hidden relationships among multiple entities
(customer/accounts) and detect various fraud patterns like organized fraud rings, first party fraud, funds
structuring & collusions. User can analyze hidden association among seemingly disparate but
interrelated customer/accounts basis linked transactions & common demographic profiles. User can
search & discover interrelated entities (Customer/Accounts) based on various transaction types &
demographic profiles like National Id, mobile no, email id. User can view & analyze the various
level/degree of relationships among interrelated entities.

1.2 Transaction link analysis


Transaction link analysis can be used to discover any hidden transaction patterns among multiple
accounts as part of fraud investigation. Below is how it works:

 User will start investigation with a particular “account of interest”. (this could happen as part of
alert investigation for a customer/account or the user wants to do an independent
investigation)
 Accounts to be considered for link analysis:
o Customer and employee accounts (office accounts will be excluded)
o Current & Savings Accounts (linked to core banking)
 Transactions to be considered for link analysis:
o Core Banking transactions (as all branch and channel transactions will hit core banking
for debit/credit)
o Transfer transactions (including branch transfer & channel transfer)
o Only “customer initiated” transactions (system initiated transactions will be excluded)
 Inputs required for link analysis:
o Account ID
o Transaction amount (to filter the transactions based on amount threshold if required.
Say consider only those transactions where amount >= AED 50)
o From & To Transaction Date
o Level of relationship (Up to max 5 levels will be supported)
 Link Analysis Details displayed on UI:
o “Node” of the graph represents an account

o Edge of the graph shows the linkage between 2 accounts (the arrow mark shows the
account which got credited)
o Edge of the graph will have additional info displayed: Total amount transferred, Count of
transactions & last date of transaction (E.g. if 3 funds transfers happen from account A
to say B, each of say AED 10k, it will show total amount as AED 30k along with count = 3
and last funds transfer date)
o Additional account information can be shown if required, on mouse over on the node
(like customer id, account name, scheme code etc.). This information will be fetched
from “account” master table. (Bank can provide the list of key information to be
displayed)
 Please note: Transaction based link analysis will be configured to work on last N months
transactions (this has to be decided by the bank)

analysis that will be deployed in the bank may have a slightly different UI with better user
experience.)

1.3 Demographic link analysis


Demographic link analysis can be used to discover any hidden relationships among multiple customers
(based on common demographic/KYC profiles) within the bank as part of fraud investigation. Below is
how it works:

 User will start investigation with a particular “demographic attribute” of interest like mobile
no/email/national id. (this could happen as part of alert investigation for a customer/account or
the user wants to do an independent investigation)
 Input required for link analysis:
o Demographic attribute
o Currently, mobile no, email and ID number are bootstrapped in customer master table
and same will be available for this link analysis
 Link Analysis Details displayed on UI:
o “Node” of the graph represents a particular demographic attribute type (like mobile no,
email, id number) and the customer who is linked to that particular demographic
attribute
o Edge of the graph shows the linkage
o Additional customer information is shown when user clicks on a particular customer
node, like Date of birth, marital status, location etc. This information will be fetched
from “customer” master table. (Bank can provide the list of key information to be
displayed)
