Subject: Request for regular fund to the NEIMA Orphanage Home, Sahsniang.
Respected Sir,

We the NEIMA Unit Sahsniang, Staffs and inmates of the NEIMA Orphanage Home Sahsniang
humbly and most respected fully seek your intervention towards bringing about the overall upliftment and
improvement of the NEIMA Orphanage Home, Sahsniang.
Sir,
We would like to draw your kind attention that the NEIMA ahve Orphanage Home, Sahsniang
was established in the post refugee camp in the 2003 at Sahsniang resulted from the Assam-Meghalaya border
dispute. During that the refugee camp, the people of Sahsniang village have extended instant help towards the
refugees in the form of fooding, clothing and shelter and consequently support by the district administration,
NGOs, Government departments, etc. Having seen the plight of refute gee in general and that of the orphan in
particular, the like – minded decided to set up an orphanage home at Sahsniang village. Hence the foundation
stone of the NEIMA Orphanage Home was inaugurated in the 17th February 2004 by Shri.D.D.Lapang, the
then Chief Minister of Meghalaya. Subsequently, the NEIMA Orphanage Home was established in the 12 th
May 2004 with an aim to provide food, shelter, care, support and protection to the children who have lost their
biological parents without any close relative to look after them.
Presently, there are 22 orphans (10 boys and 12 girls) who are residing in the orphanage while
others have evacuated as they have attained the age of 18 years. Among these children 15 of them have
complete the SSLC Examination and 2 of them have completed the HSSLC Examination and engage
themselves in productive activities once they have left the orphanage.

Respected Sir, in this regard, we would like to draw your kind attention to the following issue
which is in need t be taken up at the earliest for the smooth functioning of the orphanage.

We have been running the orphanage with donation and contributions in cash and in kind from the
donors and philanthropists. Apart from these, we have also received one time grant from the Social Welfare
Department, Govt.of Meghalaya on two separate on two separate occasion s for an amount of Rs.1,35,000
and Rs.1,40,000 in the financial year 2016-17 and 2018-19 respectively. The donation and contributions we
are received from the Voluntary assistance of the philanthropists as as the one time grant –in-aids from the
Social Welfare Department are insufficient to meet both ends meet. Since we are depending on these irregular
sources of income, It is sometime difficult to provide basic needs and facilities to the orphanage as well as to
pay a minimal honorarium to the staffs. The total expenditure per years is Rs.12,92,700/-(apppx). Therefore,
we request you to kindly find ways and means to provide regular fund to the orphanage as this persistent could
be solved.
 Sir, we are humble request for your kind intervention and provision in these matters stated above
hoping that as the leader who the faith of the people and as the Chief Minister of Meghalaya who has been
steadfastly committed toward strengthening the overall development of the entire state you will give a
favorable response to our earnest request and the earliest.

Subject: Request for extension of support to the NEIMA Orphanage Home, Sahsniang
Respected Sir,
We the NEIMA Unit Sahsniang, Staffs and inmates of the NEIMA Orphanage Home,
Sahsniang, humbly an most respectfully seek your intervention toward bringing about the overall
upliftment and improvement of the NEIMA Orphanage Home, Sahsniang.
Sir,
We would like to draw your kind information and attention that the NEIMA Orphanage
Home, Sahsniang was established since the 12th May 2004 with an aim to provide food, shelter,
care, support and protection to the children who have lost their biological parents, without any
close relative to look after them.
Respected sir, in this regard, we would like to draw your kind attention to the following
issues which are in need to be taken up at the earliest for the smooth functioning of the
Orphanage:
1. Extension Building:
There is an urgent need for the construction of Extension building as the existing ones are
congested. As of now, we have very limited infrastructure and facilities to provide a
contented accommodation to the inmates living in this orphanage. Presently, we are
requisite to construct an additional building for a sick room, guest room, bath room,
reading hall, conference Hall in both the Girls as well as the Boys home and oneadditional
bed room in the Girls Home which will also facilitate the enrolment of some more orphans
who are in serious need of shelter and protection. Unfortunately, we could not start this
project due to paucity of financial resources. We therefore, entreat you to kindly facilitate
the construction of an extension Buildingin both the Girls as well as the Boys home so that
the above-mentioned ends may be met.
2. Sanction of regular funds:
We have been running the orphanage with donations and contributions in cash and kind
from the donors and philanthropists. The donations and contributions we are receiving
from the voluntary assistance of the philanthropists are insufficient to meet both ends
meet. Since we are dependingon these irregular sources of income, it is sometimes
difficult to provide basic needs and facilities to the orphans as well as to pay a minimal
honorarium to the staffs. Therefore, we request you to kindly find ways and means to
provide regular funds to the orphanage so as these pertinent problemscould be solved.
Sir, we humbly request for your kind intervention and provision in these matters stated above, as
an Hon’ble Minister of Social Welfare who has been steadfastly committed towards strengthening
the social welfare sector in the entire state; you would give a favourable response to our earnest
request at the earliest.
