Video Process Essay

This video is a tutorial for how to insert an image into a Google slideshow. My

third grade students are required to make slideshows to show learning and present

information to the class multiple times every year. They are all at different levels of

comfort with technology. Some of them have never used a piece of tech that isn’t a phone

or a tablet and some of them have computers at home that they are on all of the time.

Providing them how to videos allows them to follow along at their own pace. They can

pause it and re-watch it as many times as they need in order to be successful. In a whole

class setting some students can panic when they get a little bit behind so I feel like having

these video tutorials for them would help decrease the anxiety that can come with using

technology in the classroom and allow them to enjoy the process more. Third grade is

often times the first time that students are asked to use Google slides so every thing is

very new for them. My goal was to break each feature of a good slideshow into a small

video so that they can master each element and them later use those skills to create a well

made and thought out slide presentation. This particular video is so students will be able

to insert both a saved image and an image from Google into a Google slides presentation.

In order to do the screen capture on my mac I followed these steps:

1. Open Launch Pad, search Quick Time Player and select

2. Click File the “new screen recording”
3. Click the dropdown menu next the record button and select “internal
microphone” and “ show mouse clicks”
4. Adjust volume to it’s lowest setting and make sure your screen is tilted
back with you aren’t using a headset with a microphone to avoid any
echoes in the audio.
5. Hit record and click the screen and start your video
6. When you are done hit the stop button that is in the top tool bar.
7. Open your video file and save it (I prefer to save to desktop so it is easy to
find)
