As per BIS norms it is illegal to Manufacturer or to Sell or to Purchase Electrical Rubber mats as per old IS i.e. 5424:1969.

Overview: An Electrical Insulation mat protects from Electric Shocks when working near Electrical Panels.

Dear User,

As per the Gazette notification, it is illegal to use Outdated rubber mats near Electrical panels.
These mats should be replaced to the mats confirming to the current Govt.standards of IS-15652:2006.

During the period up to 31 Oct,2007 applications may be recorded and processed for GOL as per IS 5424:1969 .

An undertaking may be obtained from the firm that the action required for switchover to IS-15652:2006 shall be
completed before 1st November 2007.

IS 15652:2006 AND STI Doc:STI/15652/1, November 2007 WILL BE IMPLIMENTED WITH EFFECT FROM
1st November 2007.

All ROs/BOs are requested to take necessary action. STI can be downloaded from BIS Intranet.
