A Detailed Lesson Plan in ICT 9_Excel 2016

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
1. Identify the different parts of the Microsoft Excel.
2. Point out the different parts of the Microsoft Excel.
3. Recognize the importance of knowing the different parts of the Microsoft Excel.

II. SUBJECT MATTER / TOPIC:


Topic: Introduction to Microsoft Excel

SUB- TOPIC: Parts of the Excel Window

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS: Computer/LCD Projector and materials illustrated in cartolina

REFERENCE: Fundamentals of Computers 3rd Edition 2012, pp. 82- 83

III. PROCEDURES:
A. Preliminary Activities
1. Daily Routine
Everybody stand up and let us pray. ( Everybody will stand up and pray).

2. Greetings
Good Morning class! (Good Morning Teacher!) Before we start, please pick up those pieces of paper,
candy wrappers and etc. under your chairs and tables. (Everybody pick all the garbage/trash around them). Thank you
and you may now take your seats.

3. Checking of Attendance
Is there anybody who is absent from the class today?
Very Good!
I’m really glad that everyone is present today. Keep it up!

B. Developmental Activities
1. Activity
a. Motivation
Class, are you familiar with the song “Watermelon”?
Okey, We will sing the song but we’re going to change the lyrics. So , use the words Computer, Monitor, Keyboard
and CPU.
Okey, everybody please try to sing the song. (Co – computer, Co – computer, Monitor, Monitor, Keyboard,
Keyboard, Keyboard 2x, CPU, CPU) (The students were singing.)
One more and make louder and fast! (The students will repeat the song).
Are you familiar with those words? Yes Teacher.
What are those?

What is a Worksheet?
It means that it is a spreadsheet is an application program included in Microsoft Office and its
full name is Microsoft Office Excel. A Microsoft Excel has the standard feature of an electronic
spreadsheet which uses cell that are represented in rows and columns designed to
perform basic arithmetic operations. It is also widely used in accounting and financial
applications, as well as in statistics and engineering calculations. And the program supports and
displays graphs, charts and histograms from a given set of groups of data.
That’s right!

By entering information in the form of labels, values and formulas into the worksheet cell, you
create tables or spreadsheets, useful for summarizing, tabulating, and analyzing data. So, here
is how the Worksheet looks like.

It is an on – screen spreadsheet that contains various cells in columns and rows, Teacher. The
Excel Window It has 14 parts. By looking and checking your scratch, we may now enumerate
the different part of Microsoft Excel. What is the number 1 part? Very Good! It provides access
to the most common Word commands including Save, Undo, Repeat and Copy. You can customize,
add or delete buttons on this toolbar. Number 2 please Teacher it is the Quick Access Toolbar.

3. Abstraction
Class, why do you think it is important for us to know the different parts of the Microsoft Excel? Why it
is significant for us to know the different location of the different parts of the Microsoft Excel.

important for us to know how it works so that we can easily use or navigate within the Microsoft Excel.

them to know their function and uses in using the spreadsheet application. It is significant for us to know
the locations of the different parts of the Microsoft Excel for us to use the application well Teacher. (

1. Quick Access Toolbar – Provides access to the most common word commands
2. Name Box – shows the cell reference of the active cell
3. Cell – rectangular area where a column and a row intersect

Student B
1. Formula Bar – area where you can enter or edit text or formulas
2. Title Bar – shows the open program and the name of the open file
3. Ribbon – contains the commands organized in three components

5. Generalization
You have now learned the different parts of Microsoft Excel. Again, why is it important for us
to know the function or uses of the different parts of the Microsoft Excel?

Student C
1. Start Button – main menu and the access to all programs and files available in your compute
2. Task Bar – contains the button sized files that are open
3. Scroll Bars – allows you to easily go to the top or bottom, left or right of the worksheet. It is
important to know the different function or uses of the different parts of the Microsoft Excel
for us to use them easily and effectively.

IV. EVALUATION.
Please get ¼ sheet of pad paper and identify the following statement.
1. This is the main set of command organized by tabs, groups and commands. ---Ribbon

3. Enables access to each individual worksheet. --- Sheet Tabs
4. It shows or displays the formula being used. --- Formula Bar

V. ASSIGNMENT
Give an example of a business and explain why your chosen business would benefit using
Microsoft Excel.
