Imagine in the modern era, a man enters in a foreign land seeking for
refuge to fight against his financial struggles that have fallen against his family,
way back from his homeland; thinking that doing so, enables him to conquer his
problems. Being unable to understand even a tiny bit of their local language will
be difficult for him to interact and look for a job. However, since the world had
already acknowledged that English language is considered as a universal
language, he can at least find a way to be understood by some people. English
is not only an international language but an essential language for interpersonal
Communication across the world. Learning the language alone can benefit one
in a way that it can open a window which connects the world in many aspects of
life. Especially, concerning the interpersonal aspect of an individual. Several
individuals acknowledged that the use of English language can be very beneficial
throughout the entire world.

Firstly, Zeeshan Naved (2015) said that “There are several factors that
make the English language essential to communication in our current time. First
of all, it is the most common foreign language.” This means that two individuals
who come from different countries (for example, an Indian and a Swede) usually
use English as a common language to communicate. Since the English language
is taught all around the globe, means that at least a majority of people
understands the said language and can communicate.

Secondly, Sayan Mukherjee (2017) states that “English allows you to

communicate with people all across the world. It hasn’t broken down the
language barrier, but English can help you bypass it in most cases.” Which
means that despite being different, English can help people unite in such a way
that people could somehow understand each other. People can communicate and
interact despite being distant, having different races, and having different origins
in just being able to understand the said language.

Finally, John Jayson Dela Paz (2017) proclaimed that “Studying English,
furthermore, maybe a time-consuming task to do and an expensive subject to
study but English language plays an essential role in the educational system
around the world, where English linguistic remains the international language
of almost all top universities globally. In the present climate, studying in the
developed countries is one of the choices to have a better future, and this is
where the English language is necessary because English exams are one of the
basic qualifications to study abroad.” It means that the English language which
is considered as the universal language serves a major role in helping the people
interact globally especially when it is concerned in the educational aspect.
Furthermore, as a language accepted globally, the demand for its usage has
greatly increased which means that people are encouraged to study more about
the said language.

To sum it up, the English language which is considered as the universal

language benefits humans in many ways. English contributes to society by
overcoming differences and interact with each other in such a way that can be
easily understood and expressed. First, English as a common foreign language
helps people communicate with each other. Second, despite not being able to
break down the language barrier, English can help and individual bypass it in
most cases which is essential in communication. And lastly, the demand of its
usage has greatly increased over time, especially in the field of education.
