3. Your teacher will be making a motor using: a battery, magnet, a coiled wire, 2 safety pins,
and electrical tape. Form a hypothesis of how you think the motor will look. Draw it below:

Your will be creating a motor following your teacher’s verbal directions.
2. Did your hypothesis of the motor match the motor created? Explain.
3. Compare the electric motor to the electromagnet you created last week. Describe two
similarities AND two differences between the two.
5. If you wanted to turn off the motor, what would you do? Explain.
6. If you were to explain to another student how to build a motor, what is the most important
advice you could give them to ensure their motor was successful?
7. Describe how your motor works. Be sure to explain the energy transfers. Be specific!
