STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

NAME: - SOHALIYA HIRENKUMAR CHATURBHAI

PROGRAM: - MASTER OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (ENTERPRISE

MANAGEMENT)

Ever since I attended the first industrial visit during my sophomore year of engineering, I have
nurtured a dream of becoming a part of the top-level technical university. Moreover, the dream I
had during my graduation has grown with me and I started the journey to realize that dream. As
part of that journey, I intend to pursue Master of Information Technology (Enterprise
Management) at University of South Australia.

FAMILY BACKGROUND: -

My father, Mr. Chaturbhai Madhubhai Sohaliya is currently engaged in Diamond Polishing &
Trading Business. My mother Mrs. Vimalaben Chaturbhai Sohaliya is a homemaker. I have two
elder sisters Mrs. Vanita Vishal Donga and Mrs. Rinkal Gopal Radadiya both are married and
homemaker. I have a younger brother Mr. Pratik Chaturbhai Sohaliya who is pursuing Bachelor
of Physiotherapy from P.P Savani University in Surat. I got married on 24th January 2017. My
wife Mrs. Renuka Hirenkumar Sohaliya, who has completed her Master of science in Bio-
science (Microbial Science) from Veer Narmad South Gujarat University in year 2016, currently
working as a Technician in Neuberg Supratech (Reference Laboratories) from last 3 years in
Surat. These are the people in my life who have encouraged me to plan higher studies. So, with
pride I can say that my family is my inspiration and backbone to achieve great things in life.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION: -

I have completed my S.S.C. (10th grade) in May-2010 from Gujarat Secondary Education Board
in Vadodara and secured 67.69% and I have done my H.S.C (12th grade) in May-2012 from
Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board in Gandhinagar with 67.06%. Then
after, I have completed my Bachelor of Computer Application in May-2015 from Veer Narmad
South Gujarat University and secured 6.17 CGPA with first class. I have also completed my
Master of science (Information Technology) in May 2017 from Charotar University of Science
and Technology, Anand in India and secured (9.03 CGPA) First class with Distinction.

WORK EXPERIENCE

After completing my master’s exam, I was placed in the company through campus drive and
worked as a Programmer (Software Developer) in Acty System India Pvt. Ltd. (Formerly known
as Uniacty Software Pvt. Ltd.) in Ahmedabad, India from 02nd January, 2017 to 25th January,
2018. Then after, I work as a Sr. Programmer in Brainstorm Technology in Surat, India from 1st
February 2018 to till date. During my tenure of job, I realized that my technical skill was not
sufficient to get a higher-level position job in any multinational company. So, I decided to pursue
internationally recognized master degree from a globally renowned university. So, I had started
preparation of IELTS from July 2018 to December 2018, then I conduct IELTS exam on 05th
January, 2019. I secured overall 6.0 bands in the Academic Module and in each module as per
below: Listening – 6.5, Reading – 6, Writing – 5.5 and Speaking – 5.5.

WHY I CHOOSE AUSTRALIA?

To sow the seeds of success, I needed a fertile ground in technical excellence and Australia has
the best cities in the world for students that offer high quality of education with rich life style,
better employment opportunities worldwide with affordability, which are the most crucial factors
for students who want to study abroad and that is what makes Australia the dream destination for
study. Plus, there is a high probability of getting scholarships for post graduate and research
programs. Australia has one of the most stable economies in the world. Australia is also one of the
leading destinations in the terms of new management and innovations, so students can take
advantage of that while studying there. The education offered in Australia gives a global
recognition, access to the world-class facilities and memorable student experiences. Students
graduated from Australian universities which are ranked among the reputed universities of the
World get an impressive international reputation.

Australia is known for its multiculturalism; its people identify with more than 270 ancestries;
almost seven million people have migrated to Australia since 1945; and its rich diversity of
cultural, ethnic, linguistic and religious backgrounds are unmatchable.

Australian society is one of the most accepting, welcoming and tolerant societies in the world –
values that every Australian teaches their kids.

WHY I CHOOSE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH AUSTRALIA?

If we talk about the city where University of South Australia is situated, Adelaide is the state
capital of South Australia. The City provides the world class education facilities with the university
like UniSA. The city has the multicultural society with scenic healthy environment, attractive
culture and outdoor lifestyle. Other countries also offer this course but their course curriculum
doesn’t give the in-depth practical and theoretical knowledge in the engineering program, as the
Australian universities provide especially as UniSA. Universities in the other countries do not give
the recognition on the global platform as the reputed Australian university like UniSA does. So,
these are the few of the many reasons why I have chosen to study further in University of South
Australia, Adelaide, Australia.

WHY NOT STUDY IN OTHER COUNTRIES?

Due to the famous or rather infamous Loose Gun law, USA is no longer attractive or the preferred
choice for me. In addition, after Mr. Trump became the president of USA, it looks very
unappetizing and unwelcoming to most international students, and especially to Indians.
Canada is a wonderful country. Though it has a climate vastly different from the one in India, and
I am skeptical about how I am going to be able to bear these extreme changes in climate. There is
a vast majority of Indian students; I know who are going to study Diploma courses at Canadian
community colleges under the renowned SDS Program. I however, prefer university education,
wanting to obtain a valid Master’s degree only.
Though the majority of Universities in the UK offers Master's programs of 1 year, they are very
expensive. The related courses that I would opt for are of only one-year’s duration and the fees
range between GBP 12,000 to GBP 25,000. Completing a postgraduate program in one year can
become very hectic and 1-year duration Master’s degrees have recognition problems back in India.
At this stage, I do not want to learn a new language, or even consider education in any language
other than English. Therefore, I prefer only Native English-speaking countries and have hence
avoided Germany, France etc...

WHY I CHOOSE MASTER OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (ENTERPRISE

MANAGEMENT)?

In this world where engineers are proliferating at an extremely high place, I felt that I have to
achieve something different to stand in a good position in the competitive world. So, I decided to
pursue my masters from Australia, as Australia is currently one of the most preferable destinations
for international students in the English-speaking world.
Master of Information Technology from Unisa University will broaden my knowledge and
elongate my skills, as it is designed to help students to develop their skills in engineering, business,
IT, health, government, mining and further development in the theoretical knowledge. I have
selected the course of Master of Information Technology because it is relevant with my previous
study. My chosen course of Master of Information Technology perfectly suits my course ambitions
and I am sure it shall help me professionally in gearing myself.

Development. Information Technology is for engineers who want to develop themselves in

of the course, I will have the knowledge and skills to identify, research and analyses complicated
issues in management of Information systems efficiency, leading projects and its management,
leadership, strategic integration and to propose solutions with planning and execution of it and
then measuring its effects.

FUTURE PLANS AFTER COMPLETING COURSE:

After completing my degree from Australia and receiving international degree and exposure, I am
sure to return back to my home country, INDIA; I would easily get a high designated job in one
of the leading IT companies for a successful career. Leadership styles differ from one culture or
country to the next, I will learn how to work with multinational companies and gain a better
understanding of different leadership and business styles and that will be much beneficial to me
for my future. International exposure to various cultures will allow me to gain a broad and
sophisticated worldview and diversify my thoughts and values. I can stand out from other Job
candidates with the skills that can only be gained through international experience, such as strong
cross-cultural communications and familiarity with international standards, laws, and regulations.
Additionally, by studying in a country like Australia, I will be able to respond quickly to an
evolving market or industry. The skills and knowledge acquired along with international
experience will help me to acquire a white-collar job in reputed companies like Wipro, HCL,
Kirloskar, Siemens, Reliance, Essar and many others.

The future career prospects look quite promising & this Master of Information Technology
(Enterprise Management) degree will yield good return on my investment in the long run as I will
gain more knowledge and experience and it will give a proper shape & guidance to my career &
make my path considerably easier for challenges in the corporate world of tomorrow.
I declare that I have never travelled anywhere out of India before.

REASON TO RETURN TO INDIA: -

I am not emotionally strong to stay away from my family for longer duration as I belong to a
traditional family where we believe to live in a joint family. I am the only son of my parents so I
will be surely returning back to India with my Family. Even I can say that during my studies for
Masters, it would be a tough call for me as I have to be away from my beloved family.
My entire family and friends live in India and I love the social life here so I will come back to my
country after completion of my study to live a prosperous and peaceful life with them. We have
our own house in Surat, Gujarat. The time when I will arrive to India, I would be having
international higher education and global exposure which will surely have significant prospect in
securing higher managerial position in engineering industries in India.

I see a secured career and future goal for myself here in India in various industries like Hitachi
Hi-Rel, BHEL and other field-relevant industries. I am sure of my skills and above it, I will be
having international degree, which will help me to gain a good position in any of the MNCs.

DECLARATION: -
As I am applying for my Australian Student Visa under Subclass 500, I have been made aware of
required visa conditions I need to observe and follow. I assure, I will abide by all of them which
are mentioned as below:

 I have to study full time course with 80 %attendance.

 I must have overseas health cover (OSHC) for the duration of my stay for me.
  I cannot change course and course provide for until 6 months.
 I cannot work more than 40 hrs. Per fortnight when course is in session.
 I have to pass minimum of 50 % of subject in each term.
 I will have to inform my university and DIBP if I change my contact details and address
within 7 days of changes.

I herewith honestly thank my parents, my consultant and the university to offer me such wonderful
