1 Overview
The RRU5309 is an outdoor remote radio unit that is powered by a power cabinet. It is the RF
part of a distributed base station and can be installed near the antenna. The RRU5309
performs modulation, demodulation, data processing, and combination and division of
baseband signals and RF signals.
With the software-defined radio (SDR) technology, the RRU5309 can work in multiple modes
through software configuration. With the feature of LTE FDD and NR uplink spectrum
sharing, the RRU5309 can work in multiple modes that include NR in the uplink.
The RRU5309 adopts a 2T2R design, which further improves the output power and carrier
capacity.
1.1 Appearance
Figure 1-1 shows the appearance of the RRU5309.
From SRAN13.1 onwards, the RRU5309 (700 MHz) can work in NB-IoT mode.
From SRAN12.1 onwards, the RRU5309 (800 MHz) can work in NB-IoT mode.
From SRAN15.1 onwards, the RRU5309 (800 MHz) can work in NR mode in the uplink.

Band (MHz)
LTE FDD 700 Each RRU5309 supports two carriers. The LTE
bandwidth is 5, 10, 15, or 20 MHz.
LTE FDD 800 Each RRU5309 supports three carriers. The LTE
bandwidth is 5, 10, 15, or 20 MHz.

The LTE FDD receiver sensitivity, as recommended in 3GPP TS 36.104, is measured under a 5 MHz
bandwidth based on the FRC A1-3 in Annex A.1 (QPSK, R = 1/3, 25 RBs) standard.
The LTE NB-IoT receiver sensitivity, as recommended in 3GPP TS 36.104, is measured under a 200
KHz bandwidth and a 15 KHz subcarrier spacing based on the FRC A14-1 in Annex A.14 (π/2
BPSK, R = 1/3, 1 RB) standard.
The following inband & guardband table describes the total output power of LTE FDD+LTE NB-IoT.
For details about power configurations for LTE FDD and LTE NB-IoT, see the "L+M Configuration
Combination" sheet in NB-IoT Typical Power Configurations (RRU) or NB-IoT Typical Power
Configurations (RFU).
When two LTE FDD carriers are configured, it is recommended that the power spectrum density
(PSD) of the two carriers be set to the same value. PSD = Carrier output power/Carrier bandwidth
(1.4 MHz and 3 MHz bandwidths are considered as 5 MHz bandwidth in this formula.)
The output power is 1 dB less than the standard power when an RRU/RFU is located at a height of
3500 m to 4500 m; and is 2 dB less than the standard power when the RRU/RFU is located at a
height of 4500 m to 6000 m.

The typical power consumption of an RRU is measured when the ambient temperature is 25°C and the
RRU is 50% loaded. The actual power consumption has a 10% deviation from this value.
Item Specifications
DC RRUs can use external power modules (such as AC/DC power modules, OPM15M, and OPM50M)
to support AC scenarios. For details about the external power modules, see user guides of the
corresponding models.
