Cognizant appoints Ramkumar Ramamoorthy as CMD

of India operations

NEW DELHI: IT major Cognizant has appointed Ramkumar Ramamoorthy,

currently the executive director, as chairman and managing director of
Cognizant India.

The company has fallen back on the CTS old-timer to head the India
operations at a time when the company is entangled in a series of legal
issues in India with tax and other authorities and looks to get back on the
growth trajectory.

Ramamoorthy, who was previously senior vice president - corporate

marketing, corporate affairs and communications, has been with the
company for over two decades and was appointed as executive director of India operations in 2017 in a specially created role.

Earlier on Tuesday, Cognizant CEO Brian Humphries sent out a note to the employees noting that he has developed a deep
appreciation "for the jewel that is Cognizant India," and counts it as a "hub of our global delivery, solutioning, and innovation."

"With that in mind, I’m pleased to announce the appointment of Ramkumar Ramamoorthy to Chairman and Managing Director,
Cognizant India, reporting directly to the company’s Executive Committee," Humphries added in the note.

Ramamoorthy, in his 21-plus years with the company, has developed many India-based portfolios that include Marketing and
Communications, Market Research and Intelligence, Public Affairs and Knowledge Management.

He also spearheaded Cognizant's corporate social responsibility through his work at Cognizant Foundation and Cognizant
Outreach, the company added.

Humphries also said that all his work in the country has made him a famililar external face in Cognizant's India circles among
various stakeholder groups.

"Ramkumar has worked closely with a range of stakeholders—not only associates, clients, and partners, but also investors,
industry analysts, journalists, diplomats, politicians, and education leaders," he said.

In the weeks ahead, Ramamoorthy is expected to establish both a Management Committee and an Operating Committee for
India, which will help Cognizant strengthen operations in the country.

"India has played a key role in Cognizant’s growth story from $2 million to $16 billion in revenue. It’s both a privilege and an
honor to lead Cognizant’s India operations to our next level of growth and innovation, driven by the digital opportunity,"
Ramamoorthy said in a statement to TOI.

"I am particularly proud of the role that Cognizant has played in shaping talent from educational institutions and molding them
into business professionals, driving high-quality employment, embracing diversity and inclusion, and setting benchmarks in
employee volunteerism in India," Ramamoorthy added.

"As our new Head of India Operations, Ramkumar will have all of the country’s location heads and corporate function leaders as
dotted-line reports," Humphries said in the note to employees.

The global CEO has two scheduled visits to India in the next three months and expects the Executive Committee to make
ongoing visits to India.
