Government Regulation on implementing regulation for Halal Guarantee Product (JPH) has
been signed by President Joko Widodo on 29 April 2019 and promulgated on 3 May 2019.
Products imported, distributed, and traded in Indonesian territory that are required to be Halal-
certified are products made of Halal ingredients and in accordance with Halal Products Process
(PPH).
Businesses that produce non-Halal products are obliged to attach ‘non-Halal’ information on
their products in the form of image, sign, and/or writings.
II. Certification Fee and Registration Procedure for Foreign Halal Certification
Certification fee will be charged to companies that apply for Halal certification. However,
certification fee for micro and small enterprises may be facilitated by central/regional
government, company, social/religious institution, association, and community.
Products with halal certification from foreign institution that has mutual recognition with BPJPH
only needs to register their certificate and does not need to apply for new halal certification but
must be registered by BPJPH prior to being circulated within Indonesia.
The procedure for the registration of foreign halal certification is outlined in the following
flowchart:
