23) A compound refrigeration system is used for multiload purposes as


shown in figure. R12 is used as a refrigerant. Find power required in kW
to run the system and COP of the combined system. (10M)
24) A multiple evaporator R12 refrigeration system works between the
temperature limits of -150C and 300C using a single compressor. It has
three evaporators, all working at same temperature of -150C having the
refrigeration loads of 20 TR, 10 TR and 30 TR. The vapour leaving the
evaporators is dry and three is no sub cooling of refrigerant in the
condenser. Determine: RE per kg of refrigerant; mass of refrigerant
circulated in kg/min in each evaporator; compressor power; COP of
system and bore and stroke of single acting compressor if L/D=1.2 and
N=300rpm and volumetric efficiency as 85%. (6M)
25) A multi- evaporator refrigeration system using F12 as refrigerant and
using single compressor is shown in figure. The condenser pressure is
9.77 bar and the liquid refrigerant is sub cooled to 100C after leaving the
condenser. The vapours leaving the evaporators are dry and saturated.
Assuming isentropic compression, find the compressor power and COP of
the system. (10M) (Assignment I; QN 04)
26) A multiload system is shown in figure and R12 is used as a refrigerant in
the system. Find the followings: 1. Power required to run the system and
2. COP of system. (8M)

27) In an absorption type refrigerator, the heat is supplied to NH3 generator


by condensing steam at 2 bar and 90% dry. The temperature to be
maintained in the refrigerator is -50C.The temperature of atmosphere is
300C. Find the maximum COP possible of the refrigerator. If the
refrigeration load is 20 tons and actual COP is 70% of maximum COP,
find the mass of the steam required per hour. (6M)
