Kinetic architecture promise of easy ,ra[id and reversible ingenious

mechanical transformations in response to changing program and
occupancy pressures .kinetic devices can benefit multiple or
overlapping programs ,can maintain spatial organization more finely
tuned to current demands ,can perform transformation in both short
and long term time spans . Also by incorporating motion into
architecture ,designers could give another dimensions by which to
interact with their surroundings .architects can not only
communicate motion ,but can also engage occupants in what it
means to have transition and morphing states of architecture.

1. NEED OF IDENTIFICATION
A new adaptable architecture must be developed .we know that all
living systems exhibit adaptive behaviour .That is they possess an
ability to react to their environments in such a ways that is
favourable .so why not architecture ?

In this digital world new technologies have been introduces ,applying

it in architecture can inhance the living in the best fit .it can give a
new beginning to architecture .Building will no longer be static ,it
could move ,rotate ,revolve it will be alive .

Looking back into the past we have seen architecture has always
changed .from pyramids to Giza to Greek Parthenon ,from leaning
tower of piza to eiffle tower ,from the empire state building to the
turning Torso. They all have made a great influence on architecture.

so the main aim is to find out whether kinetic architecture will cope
up with the growing needs of comfort living, it will bring a new era in
architecture.

KINETIC ARCHITECTURE –
DEFINATION
Concerns in structural engineering will focus upon kinetic
architecture is defined generally as building components with
variable mobility ,location or geometry. Structural solutions must
consider in parallel both the ways and means for kinetic operability
.The ways in which kinetic structural solutions performs may include
among others ,folding ,sliding ,expanding and transforming in both
size and shape .

KINETIC TYPOLOGIES
Kinetic structures are classified here into three general categories :
EMBEDDED KINETIC STRUCTURES
Embedded kinetic structures are systems that exist within larger
architectural whole in a fixed location . The primary function is to
control the larger architectural system or building in response to
changing factors .

DEPLOYABLE KINETIC STRUCTURE

Deployable kinetic structure typically exist in a temporary location
and are easily transportable . such systems possess the inherent
capability to be constructed and deconstructed in reverse.
Application may include travelling exhibits , pavilions ,self assembling
structures in disaster areas . An example may be transportable
computer terminals ,which can automate their own energy.

DYNAMIC KINETIC STRUCTURES

Dynamics kinetic structures also exist within a larger architectural

whole but act independently with respect to control of the larger
context . such can be subcategorized as mobile ,transformable and
increment kinetic systems .Applications may include louvers ,doors ,
partitions , ceiling , walls and various modular components .

ANALYSIS

occupants another dimensions by which to interact with their
