The DSTV zero point is the bottom left corner of a product. By changing the
zero point settings (Picture 2 -33) it will be possible move the zero point
temporarily. This will make it easier to create a product when the drawings have
a different zero point. For example: when a hole is 50 millimetres from the left
side of the product with a length of 1000. The X position will be 50. When the
zero point of the X axis is changed to end, the X position will become 950. The
same applies to the Y(with web height) and Z axis (with flange height).

Picture 2-34 X Offset

It is also possible to define an X offset on the advanced tab. This X offset is

useful when the X positions are measured from a plate which is welded on top of
the bar as shown in Picture 2 -34.
The example product is now completed. Press “OK” to save the product and
close this window. The product is now added to the products table. All product
properties are explained in this example product.

Product buffer

Picture 2-57 Product buffer

The product buffer (Picture 2 -57) has 2 possible functions.

The first function is to represent a physical buffer between two machines (see
Picture 2 -58). In this case the product buffer will contain partially processed
products.

Picture 2-58 Physical product buffer

In this buffer system products will be cut and transported with the traverse
transports into the products buffer. Products can be taken out of the product
buffer and be put onto the infeed of the drilling machine. The buffer reduces the
idle time of the saw and drill.
The product buffer in Picture 2 -57 shows 4 products in the product buffer. The
product on position 1 is the product which will be drilled first. The buffer also
indicates if the product should be rotated manually and if it needs to be shot
blasted.

With the button and it is possible to change the

positions of the products in the buffer.
Note: The products on position 1 and 2 should not be exchanged because the
product on position 1 might already been taken into production. This might
cause the product to be processed incorrect.

Picture 2-59 Product buffer button

With the “New…” button it is possible to add a product to the buffer. This
product should be a DSTV file which is exported with the Manual Batcher. The
DSTV file should also be available to the machine computer under the same
path. When the “New…” button is pressed, the “New product row” screen will
appear (Picture 2 -60). Select the DSTV file for the product which should be
added to the product buffer, choose the correct rotation. Define if the product
should be drilled and shot blasted.

The second function of the product buffer is to produce products which are
already partially produced. This system (see Picture 2 -61) does not have a
physical buffer.

Shotblast buffer
The shot blast buffer is only available for a system which has a shot blaster. The
shot blast buffer tab (Picture 2 -62) contains information about the buffers
between the drill/saw and shot blast machine.

Picture 2-62 Shot blast buffer tab

The following columns are available in the shot blast buffer:

 Buffer position, this column shows where the buffers are located. The
amount of buffer locations depends on the distance between the
drill/saw and the shot blaster.
 Date, the date on which the buffer is created.
 Time, the time on which the buffer is created.
 Max. length in batch, this is the length of the longest product in the
batch on this buffer position
 Min. length in batch, this is the length of the shortest product in the
batch on this buffer position
 Max. height in batch, this is the height of the highest product in the
batch on this buffer position
 Max. width in batch, this is the width of the widest product in the batch
on this buffer position
 Profiles, This indicates that the batch contains profiles instead of
flats/angle steel.
 Number of profiles, this is the amount of profiles/flats/angles in the
batch on this buffer position.
 Use section two, this indicates whether the batch should be transported
to the second section instead of the first section.
The buttons which are available in this tab are shown in Picture 2 -63. The
buttons with the red border are not available for all customers. These buttons can
be enabled by Voortman Automatisering.
