Definition of Terms

The following terms are defined operationally or conceptually for easy understanding of this


1.Autocratic – controlled by one supervisors who has total power, and who does

not allow anyone else to make decisions.

2. Autocratic Leadership style - the supervisors tells his or her employees what to do and how to

do it, without getting their advice.

3. Company – refers to ManpowerGroup company.

4. Employee Empowerment – is a management strategy that aims to give employees the tools

and resources necessary to make confident decisions in the workplace without supervision.

5. Empowerment – refers to ManpowerGroup company employee individual’s belief in his/her

ability to exercise choice and to make decision. (Campion et al.).

6. Laissez-faire - defined as a policy or attitude of letting things take their own course, without

employees to make the decisions, however, the leaders is still responsible for the decisions that

are made.

8. Leadership- defined as the process of influencing the activities of an organized group toward

goal achievement. (Rauch & Behling.).

9. Leadership style - is the manner and approach of providing direction, implementing plans,

and motivating people. ( Newstrom, Davis, 1993 ).

10. Transformational leadership - defined as a leadership approach that causes change in

individuals and social systems.

11. Respondents – refers to the employee of ManpowerGroup Company.
