CHAPTER 1: Background

1.1. Project Location

The structure is designed to be a three-storey residential building and is to be located at Suburbia

East Subdivision Parang, Marikina city. The structure is at the corner of 6 th avenue and 11th
avenue Street. It has a total lot area of 256 m2 and a floor dimension of 13 m. x 13 m. for each
level.

1.2. Project Objective

The project is designed to be a three-storey structure which will serve as a residential building.

1.3. Scope and Limitation

The scopes for the design of the project are as follows:

1. To Conceptualize on designing of 3-storey project according to the National Structural Code of

the Philippines 2015 and the National Building Code of the Philippines
2. To provide the required design drawings and other structural member details
3. To compute the Wind Load, Live Load, Dead Load, Shear, Moment and Axial Force,
Earthquake Loads of the Structure.
4. To be familiarized with the use of the Slope Deflection and Moment Distribution Method.
5. To analyse the structure using STAAD.PRO V8i
The limitations for the design of the project are as follow/s:
1. The structure is limited to 3 floors only.
