Reading/Language Arts
In Language Arts our learning targets this week have included:
*review of the letters Cc, Nn, and Pp and their beginning and ending sounds.
*Sight word review
*blending sounds
*recognizing nouns as places
*color, number, and size words
*Setting – understanding where a story happens
In writing this week we have continued to work on writing complete
sentences with capitals, space, periods, and using nouns that are places.
We’ve talked about places at home, places at school, and some of our
favorite places. We’ve also tried to grow our sentences by writing about
what we like about those places or do in those places!
FINALLY, we had our DIBELS testing this week! Most students did
very well. Some have experienced a little summer slide and scored just below
the required composite score. If your student is one of those I will contact
you early next week and they will be placed in and Intervention group until
their scores are consistently back in the benchmarked range! I also continue
to do individual running records to assess their level of decoding and
understanding! I plan to start BAGGIE BOOKS on Monday!
