ABOUT EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS COURSES: HOW ARE THEY DISPENSED?

Dear learner, you are most welcome to the Open University of Mauritius for your Educational
journey.
WHO IS ENTITLED TO THE TWO FREE EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS COURSES?
According to the university's policy each student enrolled for either an undergraduate,
postgraduate or PhD course (minimum duration: 2 years) is entitled to two free
Employability skills courses, one to be taken in year 1 semester 1 and the 2nd, when
he/she will reach year 2 semester 1. The student has to complete the two courses well
before he/she reaches Yr. 3 when he/she will have to focus on the dissertation.
It is strongly advisable for All the students to complete their two free Employability Skills
courses within the first two years. These two courses are optional and independent of
the modules for undergraduate, postgraduate & PhD programmes.

Note: Students of Foundation Programmes and for any programme less that 1 yr. duration
(e.g. Top up) are NOT entitled to the two FREE employability skills courses.
ONLINE APPLICATION
Usually there are only two courses for the students to apply for their Employability skills
courses (via the Open link: http://oumauritius.com/employability) during
their FIRST ENROLLMENT, irrespective of their main programmes.
INDUCTIONS: When & Where?
Students are then invited via e-mail to attend their Employability Inductions (weekdays,
between 16 30 and 18 30 at OUCC, Forest Side (ex-MBC building) for their respective
courses a few weeks AFTER the OU Inductions held for their main programmes.
The Students attend the 1st Employability induction in Yr.1 semester1 and they will attend
the 2nd induction for the second course applied when they reach Yr.2 semester 1. Usually
communication via e-mail is sent to the students for their Employability Skills Inductions at
least 10 days before the appropriate induction date scheduled.
The timetable of Employability Inductions is also uploaded on the OU moodle platform,
with a deadline for signing their attendance in the respective induction lists.
Note: students of Yr. 1 semester 1 enrolled in July 2019 intake are advised to attend the
Induction for their 1st course applied according to the timetable. In case they do not
receive their e-mails for one reason or another they can also register on the spot in the
appropriate induction session scheduled on the timetable.
Those students who cannot attend their Induction for valid reasons on scheduled dates are
required to register by calling to the Open University of Mauritius - REDUIT (office hours,
weekdays) and contact the Admin. Staff below, within the specified deadline.
