5.3 Is the completion of this standard dependent upon the completion of another standard: No
5.4 Purpose: The purpose of this standard is to provide information regarding the procedures for the testing of dry-type transformers.
Transformer requirements and specific test criteria are not a part of this standard but are contained in appropriate standards such as IEEE Std
C57.12.01 or in user specifications.

5.5 Need for the Project: Since publication of the last revision of this standard, it has been recognized that some test procedures described in
the standard are no longer used, or are performed in a different way or with different test equipment to that described.

5.6 Stakeholders for the Standard: The stakeholders of this standard include the users (electric utilities, industrial and commercial facilities)
and manufacturers of dry type distribution and power transformers.

Intellectual Property
6.1.a. Is the Sponsor aware of any copyright permissions needed for this project?: No
6.1.b. Is the Sponsor aware of possible registration activity related to this project?: No

7.1 Are there other standards or projects with a similar scope?: No

7.2 Joint Development
Is it the intent to develop this document jointly with another organization?: No

8.1 Additional Explanatory Notes (Item Number and Explanation): 5.2: The full title of IEEE Std C57.12.01 is IEEE Standard for General
Requirements for Dry-Type Distribution and Power Transformers

5.2: The proposed revised SCOPE contains four revisions.

1. The addition of reference to the fact that this standard applies to transformers with a voltage of 601V or higher in the highest voltage
winding.
The revision is being made to be consistent with IEEE Std C57.12.01, which has similar identical wording in its scope. This revision does not
affect the body of the standard.
2. Removal of the word "safety". This revision is being made as a result of a recommendation by IEEE.
3. The products listed as exceptions will now be listed as bullet points, instead of being contained with the paragraph. This revision is being
made in order to be consistent with C57.12.01.
4. Two additional products are being listed as bullet point exceptions, Testing Transformers and Welding Transformers. Again, this is in order
to be consistent with C57.12.01.
NOTE: The Working Group believes that C57.12.01 and C57.12.91 should be consistent in the scope, since both standards refer to the same
products. C57.12.01 is IEEE Standard for General Requirements for Dry-Type Distribution and Power Transformers.
