Late Work
The first day an assignment is missing, I will take 25% off. The second day an assignment is missing, I
will take off 50%. Any days after that, the assignment will not be accepted. Absences work differently.
Please see below.

Because formatives are only worth 30% of the overall grade, one missing assignment will have very
little impact on the overall grade. Many missing assignments will have a substantial impact.

All late work will not be accepted after the end of each quarter.
(Something to consider…most college professors and future employers won’t accept late work at all. )

Retakes
Summative assignments, such as projects and essays, are usually done in parts and students will have
multiple opportunities to meet with the teacher, revise, and edit.

Retakes are due within a week of the due date. Students can earn ½ the points they missed.

Retaking tests and quizzes are up to teacher descretion. Students must request a retake and may be
required to do an additional review activity, depending on the assignment type.

All retakes will have to be made by appointment, either before or after school.

Absences
If you know in advance the days you will not be in class, please contact me and get the work ahead of time. Your
work is due the day you return. For excused absences, all makeup work needs to be compelted in the same
number of classes/days that the student was asbent. For avoidable absences, all makeup work is due upon day
of return.

In the case of an unplanned absence, check Google Classroom FIRST!! Then, come to me with questions or
concerns. I will post all resources and assignments online.

Academic Dishonesty
Cheating will not be tolerated. Academic dishonesty includes copying another student’s assignment,
working on an assignment with a partner and turning in the same answers, any form of plagiarism,
and using work from previous years or work from another class.

Consequences include:
• F on assignment
• Discpline referral
• Parent contact

Discipline Policy
Students will be expected to treat all people in the classroom with respect at all times. The biggest
problem that I normally have is too much talking and students being disrespectful to each other. You
will be warned if your behavior does not follow these guidelines. If the behavior still does not improve,
a referral will be written.

Disruptive beahvior, bullying, insubordination, profanity, tardiness, and other inapprorpaite behavior polices
can be found in the student handbook linked below.

***All school policies listed in the student handbook apply in my classroom at all times.
Link below.

Under NO circumstances will bullying, harassment, innapropriate behavior, profanity, or

academic dishonesty be tolerated in the classroom.

A Teacher’s Promise

It is important you know that you matter and

your success is important to me!

I will always be available for extra help, but

the absolute most important thing you can
do is communication with me.

I know life can sometimes through some

curveballs, and I am understanding. We are all
human!

Even if you get behind, it’s never too late.

I can help “I don’t understand”. I can help “I

need help”.

But, I cannot help “I won’t do this” or “I won’t

try”.

I promise I will listen to you

I promise I will trust you
I promise I will see you in a psotive light and
focus on your strengths
I promise to help you develop your
weaknesses
I promise to push you towards life long
learning
I promise to never teach you something that
will not benefit you forever
I promise to teach to the best of my ability

I am excited for this school year and to get to

know you all more!

Sincerley,
Miss Martin
