PREPARE A DETAIL REPORT ON DOMAIN NAME SYSYTEM AND

DHCP SERVER

1.0 Brief Introduction

DNS stands for Domain Name System and its function can be compared to that
of a telephone directly. Network devices maintain one or more IP addresses, which
are either statically configured or assigned via DHCP. These IP addresses allow the
devices to communication with one another via the IP protocol.
DHCP and DNS are the two fundamental services in an IT network. Whilst DNS
makes sure that servers, clients, and services can be found in the network re provided
with the information they require to participate in the communication.

2.0 Aim of the Micro-Project

3.0 Intended Course Outcomes

1. Analyze the functioning of data and communication and computer network.
2. Select relevant transmission media and switching techniques as per need.
3. Configure various networking devices.
4.Configure different TCP/IP services.

4.0 Literature Review

 DNS
DNS stands for Domain Name System and its function can be compared to that of a
telephone directory. Network devices maintain one or more IP addresses, which are
either statically configured or assigned via DHCP. These IP addresses allow the devices
to communication with one another via the IP protocol.
 DHCP
DHCP stands for Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol and is a network protocol via
which a client can request an IP configuration and in turn be assigned one by a DHCP
server. The negates the need for manual setup of the client’s network interface, which
saves a considerable amount of time and administrative effort. Instead, the client itself
communication with the server and procures all the IP address, network mask, and
gateway independently.
4.0 Proposed Methodology
 Collect various information about Networking Services on various platforms.
 Understand the two types of network server.
 Collect the deep information about domain name system & DHCP server.
 Start to create final report.
