Narrative Report
DISTRICT MEET 2019

To unleash various innate skills of learners specifically sports related skills, the Department of
Education always conducts sports events every year. This is to comply with the goals of the department in
constantly nurturing learners for them to realize their full potential and be able to contribute meaningfully in
nation building.

Last July 28-30, 2019, public schools district supervisor, school heads, teachers, coaches, officials,
athletes, parents, visitors and other significant stakeholders gathered at G.E. Ramirez Memorial School as
District Meet 2019 was held. Camanakager was the host zone composed of Camburay Elementary School,
Magbay Elementary School, Narra Elementary School, Kalinisan Minority School and G.E. Ramirez Memorial
School. July 28, 2019 was the date of the arrival of all the participants coming from all participating schools.
Solidarity Meeting was also a part of that day’s itinerary which started at 9:00 AM where delegations from
different zones were formally presented by school PESS coordinators. The program started with the singing of
Philippine National Anthem which was conducted by Diana Rose M. Mortos, Teacher I from Camburay
Elementary School and followed by the opening prayer led by Nena R. Jaravata, Teacher III of G.E. Ramirez
Memorial School. Everyone had sung MIMAROPA March and Occidental Mindoro before Julito S. Martinez,
Jr., District MAPEH & Sports Coordinator delivered his words of welcome. On the other hand, Romelito D.
Pagilagan, District PESS coordinator did the responsibility of introducing all the participants including
screening committee, personnel on jury on appeals, event supervisors, committee chairmen, tournament
managers and other officiating officials. Eduardo A. Domingo, Public Schools District Supervisor of San Jose
West District gave friendly reminders regarding Do’s and Don’ts in conducting any kinds of sports activity and
Rogelio V. Dimalaluan, Principal III of Magbay Elementary School shared some salient points to always keep
in mind for event to be successful. Incident Command System was discussed by varied personnel; in terms of
the parade, Jonathan O. Obaña, Teacher III of G.E. Ramirez Memorial School explained about it and Eduardo
Arangale, Chief Tanod of Barangay Bayotbot talked about the peace and order situation in the host barangay.
Julito S. Martinez, Jr., District MAPEH & Sports Coordinator enlightened everyone with regards to the ethics of
sports officiating officials and other sports concerns. Lastly, committee chairman of different events led the
orientation and briefing to talk about schedules of the games and other important details prerequisite. In the
afternoon that day, opening program began through a kick-off parade which was participated by PAG ASA
zone, MAPAYA zone, AMMEX zone, MAY-Q zone and CAMANAKAGER zone. The singing of Philippine
National Anthem, MIMAROPA March and Occidental Mindoro March which was conducted by Diana Rose
M. Mortos and a prayer by Nena R. Jaravata, marked the official start of the District MEET 2019. Juanito M.
Masibay, Sr., chairperson of committee on Education delivered his wholehearted words of welcome along with
Hon. Rolando A. Latoza, Barangay Captain of Brgy. Bayotbot whom represented by Hon. Henry Obaña,
Barangay Kagawad and also Julito S. Martinez, Jr. , Principal II of G.E. Ramirez Memorial School, the venue
of the aforementioned program. He further encouraged the athletes whom he considered as one of the modern
heroes of today to aspire for Palarong Pambansa inclusion. The athletes were motivated extrinsically by
Eduardo A. Domingo, Public Schools District Supervisor through his inspirational message. He shared some
inspiring stories that aimed to have all of them a sound mind-set for the 3-day activity and be able to realize all
their target goals. School heads from AMMEX zone headed the turnover of the district meet friendship banner
to this year’s host, CAMANAKAGER which was also warmly accepted by 5 school heads of the said zone.
Eduardo A. Domingo, Public Schools District Supervisor together with Julito S. Martinez, District MAPEH &
Sports Coordinator were the ones who had raised the district banner while school heads and zone PESS
coordinators hoisted their respective delegation banner. For this year’s lighting of the urn of friendship, this
momentous part was initiated by Rakelyn A. Tawatao, Palarong Pambansa 2019 athlete who is a pride of
Camanakager zone as she was from Narra Elementary School while oath of amateurism was led by Lady
Mariane D. Samson, Palarong Pambansa 2019 athlete who is also a pride of Camanakager zone as she was
from Magbay Elementary School. On the other hand, Romelito D. Pagilagan headed the oath of officiating
officials. Eduardo A. Domingo declared the official start of the District Meet 2019. After the declaration, there
were events which already started their games. July 29, 2019 was the date of the official game competition for
most of the sports events including athletics, arnis, badminton, baseball, basketball, chess, football, sepak
takraw, swimming and volleyball. The games continued up until morning of July 30, 2019 until all events came
up with championship and already determined all the winners. In the afternoon, winners were given awards and
due recognition with their coaches.
