CULTURE CLUSTER

Directions​: Write a poem about your culture. The poem should include at least 3
types of figurative language (such as similes, metaphors, personification, onomatopoeia,
alliteration, etc.). The poem should appeal to the 5 senses by using descriptive adjectives
and imagery. Stanza size, form and rhyme scheme are up to you. The poem should be
surrounded by pictures, cutouts, drawings and other symbols that represent your culture.
This should be done on construction paper, poster board ​or any other innovative way that
you want to portray your culture​ (must be approved by Ms. Potter). Remember to BE
CREATIVE.

Culture Cluster and the Design Cycle


Investigate​ - Brainstorm ideas about what your culture means to you.

Plan​ - What materials will you need? (Poster board, construction paper, magazines, etc.)

Design​ – Create a sketch of what your visual will look like. Make drafts of your poem.

Create​ – Make your visual and compose the final draft of your poem.

Evaluate​ – Reflect on your final product. How did you do?
