Purpose and Description

The system for TRACESERV’s employees’ will be more efficient and secured by

upgrading the system. In addition, this will also add improvements in their

services with the users. The security of records of TRACESERVs’ employees is

important in the system.

The project developers developed a system entitled “Automated Attendance

System Using Raspberry Pi” for the employees’ of TRACESERV Incorporated.

The employees’ fingerprints will be scanned in biometric scanner for

authentication and the employees’ information will be displayed at the 7” LCD

touchscreen. The biometric scanner and 7” LCD touchscreen are connected to a

raspberry pi. With the help of an interactive friendly-user interface designed and

provided by the project developers in the system, the employees will not take a

hard time to understand and to operate the system. In the provided screen, it will

display the name of employees, employees’ number, date, shift, log-in, log-out,

leave, late, under time and remarks. The employees’ attendance will be saved

and restored in the database. For security purposes, if ever the employees’

fingerprints cannot be read by biometric scanner, there will be an alternative

solution for it. The employee can use their personal pin code that will be given by

the administrator once they are registered. The client’s employee can also view

their accounts through Android-based application. In the Android-based

application, the employee will also input their personal pin code to access the

clients’ provided application from there, they can also make their leave request

via android. Once the employees’ request has been sent, they will receive a

confirmation via short messaging services (sms) from the system of the

administrator.

Objectives

The project developers developed an Automated Attendance System.

Specifically, the developed system aims to;

1. control all the devices that are connected to the system through

raspberry Pi;

2. get the employees’ identification and attendance through biometric

scanner;

3. view and make employees’ leave requests through android

application;

4. send confirmation to employees by means of Global System for

Mobile Communication (GSM) Module; and

5. Update employees’ records and account.

Scope and Limitations

The Attendance System covered many features which includes the display of the

employees’ information and time of their attendance in the screen of the system.

The developed project will secure only the employees’ attendance that will save

in the database. Only the system administrator can manipulate the information of

the employee through the developed system. The developed android-based

application is intended only for viewing and sending an employees’ leave

request. Receiving of confirmation is done via Short Messaging Services (SMS).

Employees’ fingerprint or personal pin code will be used to access their

accounts.

Payroll system is not included in the said project. Since the developed project is

intended for saving the employees’ attendance only, it cannot use for other

purposes or any other transactions.
